MAINTENANCE 6EN6Tire repairing must never be performedif the tire is punctured on its sidewall, orif the diameter of the puncture on thetread is greater than 6 mm (0.24 inch).• Do not use sealing fluids to repair apunctured tire. These products canadversely affect the material of the tirelayers, as well as hide the minor damagescaused by objects penetrated in the tire.• When it is necessary to replace thetires, use only the type specified in section8.2. Moreover, avoid using tires of adifferent brand or type on the front andon the rear wheel at the same time.Using tires different from those specifiedcan adversely affect the handlingand stability of the motorcycle, increasingthe risk of accidents with subsequentserious injury or even death.• Have the tires replaced according totheir direction of spin, which is highlightedby a small arrow on the tire sidewall.• The wheel rims of your motorcyclehave been designed for use with tubelesstires only. Do not assemble an airtube tire on rims designed for tubelesstires. Otherwise, the tire bead could notproperly settle down on the wheel rim,leading to the deflation of the tire andthe loss of control of the vehicle.• Do not assemble an air tube on atubeless tire. The overheating of the tirecould cause the explosion of the airtube, leading to the deflation of the tireand the loss of control of the vehicle.• New tires are sometimes coated witha mold release agent which makes themslippery. Abrupt acceleration, sharpturning or hard braking could cause youto lose control of your motorcycle. Rideat reduced speeds and exercise extremecaution during the first 100 km (62miles) when the motorcycle is new andafter the replacement of a tire.- 138 -
