the enamelled dial with Roman and Arabic numerals, on ormolu
mounted marble base.
Signed Robin du Roi, a Paris. France, XIX° century,
sizes: 66 cms. x 18 cms. x height 42 cms.
Rober Robin (1742 – 1799), was clockmaker in Paris and became Master in 1767. He became “Horloger du Roi” before the year 1774. He supplied
clocks to the Royal Family and was reputed for its impressive pendulum and mantel clocks, often executed with astronomic complications. The
mechanism of its mantel clocks are the most refined of that period.
