Shells continue to rain down. An hour later, we
think we hear shouting, but don’t pay any
attention. We suddenly hear “French! French!”
Dad understands that it is a soldier who is
asking for help, and goes to him. The
American has been injured by a bullet which
has gone through his foot and he can barely
drag himself along the ground. We take him to
the house and after giving him something to
drink, we help him to go to the aid station.
Les obus continuent de pleuvoir. Une heure
après, il nous semble entendre crier, mais
nous n’y prêtons pas attention. Nous
distinguons soudain : « french ! french ! ». Papa
comprend que c’est un soldat qui demande du
secours et il va à sa rencontre. L’Américain a
été blessé par une balle qui lui a traversé le
pied et il peut à peine se traîner. Nous
l’amenons à la maison et après lui avoir donné
à boire, nous l’aidons à aller au poste de
secours.
Die Granaten regnen weiterhin. Eine Stunde
später glauben wir ein Rufen zu hören, aber wir
geben nicht darauf acht. Wir erkennen plötzlich:
„French! French!“ Papa begreift, dass es ein
Soldat ist, der nach Erster Hilfe fragt, und er
geht, ihm zu helfen. Der Amerikaner war durch
eine Kugel verwundet, die ihm den Fuß
durchschlagen hatte, und er kann sich mit Mühe
bewegen. Wir bringen ihn ins Haus, und
nachdem wir ihm zu trinken gegeben haben,
helfen wir ihm, zur Erste Hilfe Station zu gehen.
