Pourquoi sautent-ils le pas ? « Il y a une exigence sociétale », analyse le Dr Auroy, pour qui « le milieu professionnel est de plus en plus dur et compétitif. Les hommes veulent continuer à montrer, malgré le temps qui passe, un reflet dynamique. C’est aussi parfois parce qu’ils ont une compagne plus jeune – et qui fait elle-même des choses ! –, afin que la différence d’âge ne se remarque pas trop, ou qu’ils reviennent sur le marché de la séduction qui est, à l’image du marché du travail, très labile et fluctuant ». Mêmes observations pour le Dr Bellaiche, qui note une prévalence de « l’optique professionnelle ». « J’entends souvent : “on me dit que j’ai l’air fatigué, alors que je ne le suis pas. J’ai l’impression que cela me gêne dans mes possibilités d’évolution”. Avoir l’air moins fatigué, c’est la principale requête. Mon rôle est alors de les orienter vers le traitement adéquat pour défatiguer et remasculiniser leur visage, les guider vers la solution la plus élégante et leur redonner leurs atouts », explique-t-elle. Combler ses sillons, redonner du volume à ses pommettes, redessiner l’ovale de son visage, oui ! Mais l’important est que cela ne se voie pas. La patte française, contrairement aux goûts plus ostentatoires outre-Atlantique ou outre-Oural, prône le naturel. « Le meilleur des compliments, c’est quand un patient revient me voir et me lance : “Docteur, on ne m’a rien dit” », s’amuse Sabine Bellaiche. « Les hommes ne veulent pas être transformés », appuie aussi Stéphane Auroy. « Ils veulent rester eux, mais en mieux ! Alors on va tendre à leur rendre le visage qu’ils avaient il y a dix, quinze ou vingt ans. Il y a une maquette à construire avec rigueur, un visage à traiter de manière globale et une fréquence à ne pas dépasser sur le long-terme. En tant que médecin, il faut savoir dire non ! ». Si l’on décide d’y avoir recours, ce qui est primordial, outre le choix d’un praticien sérieux, c’est d’opter pour un produit de qualité. « Pour les injections d’acide hyaluronique, j’ai choisi les Laboratoires VIVACY. Ils ont développé un produit qui va particulièrement bien à l’homme, STYLAGE® XXL, qui est très restructurant pour le visage », commente le Dr Bellaiche. Même enthousiasme pour le Dr Auroy, qui est « très fidèle à la gamme STYLAGE®, ayant testé les meilleurs produits qui se font sur le marché ». « Je n’ai jamais trouvé mieux en termes de facilité d’injection, de durabilité tant pour les lèvres, que pour les gros volumateurs ou les produits plus légers. La gamme est complète et parfaite », estime-t-il. Reste une question, et non des moindres : est-ce que les injections sont douloureuses ? « Le médecin utilise une crème anesthésiante et les produits contiennent eux-mêmes un actif anesthésiant. Ajoutez à cela des aiguilles très fines : l’acte est vraiment confortable », rassure le dermatologue Stéphane Auroy. L’effet d’une injection d’acide hyaluronique dure entre 9 et 18 mois, selon la zone traitée (sillons nasogéniens, ridules, pommettes…) et la densité du produit utilisé. Le docteur Bellaiche conseille de revenir plusieurs fois sur l’ouvrage pour un naturel optimal : « avoir des rides, c’est normal et viril. Il faut utiliser les rides positives et être rajeuni, pas sans âge ! Je me félicite que les médecins s’intéressent aujourd’hui à l’homme et à ses particularités, car il a lui aussi le droit à sa quête de bien-être et d’harmonie. Why do they take the leap? “There is a societal requirement,” says Dr. Auroy, for whom “the professional environment is becoming harder and more competitive. Sometimes it can be because they have a younger companion – who does it all herself! – and they don’t want the age difference to be too obvious, or they are returning to the dating game which is, like the job market, very unstable and fluctuating.” Dr. Bellaiche confirms the same observations, noting a prevalence of “professional optics”. “I often hear: ‘I am told that I look tired when I am not. I have the impression that it is obstructing my promotion opportunities’. To look less tired is the main request, so my role is then to direct them to the appropriate treatment which will relax and remasculinise their face. Guide them to the most elegant solution and give them back their assets,” she explains. Filling furrows, giving volume to cheekbones, redefining the face oval, yes! But the important thing is that it does not show. The French way, unlike the more ostentatious tastes of the US or overseas, advocates the natural look. “The best compliment I can get is when a patient comes back to me and says: ‘Doctor, nobody said anything to me’,” Sabine Bellaiche laughs. “Men do not want to be transformed,” says Stéphane Auroy. “They want to look like themselves, but better! So we tend to give them the face they had ten, fifteen or twenty years ago. The model should be built with rigor, the face should be treated globally and the frequency should not be exceeded in the long term. As a doctor, you have to know how to say no!” If you decide to go ahead, the most important thing is (besides the choice of a trustworthy practitioner) to opt for a high quality product. “For hyaluronic acid injections, I choose Laboratoires VIVACY. They have developed a product that is particularly well adapted to men, STYLAGE® XXL, because it is very restructuring for the face,” says Dr. Bellaiche. Dr. Auroy shows the same enthusiasm and is “very loyal to the STYLAGE® line, having tested all the best products on the market.” “I have never found better in terms of ease of injection, durability for the lips, large volumisers or lighter products. The range is complete and perfect”, he says. However, one question remains, but not the least: are injections painful? “The doctor uses an anaesthetic cream and the products themselves contain a local anaesthetic, Lidocaine. Add that to a very fine needle: the act is really quite comfortable,” reassures the dermatologist, Stéphane Auroy. The effect of a hyaluronic acid injection lasts between 9 and 18 months depending on the treated area (nasolabial folds, fine lines, cheek bones...) and the density of the product used. Dr. Bellaiche advises to go back over your handiwork several times for an optimal natural look: “to have wrinkles is normal and virile. You have to positively use wrinkles to be rejuvenated, not be without age! I am glad that doctors are now interested in men and their particularities, because they too have the right to well-being and harmony.
