ONAIR : Pour commencer : que prépares-tu actuellement,
sur le plan musical ?
Yannick Noah : J'ai travaillé sur un album depuis le début de
l'année. J'habite sur un bateau depuis deux ans et demi donc j'ai
travaillé sur des pré-maquettes, suis allé en studio en mai-juin,
ai fini l'album fin juin puis tourné un clip dans la foulée. On a un
single qui est sorti cet été et qui s'appelle "Viens" et l'album
[est] sort[i] le 6 septembre. Ça s'appelle "Bonheur Indigo". J'en
suis très content !
ONAIR: First things first: what’s cooking on your
end, music-wise?
Yannick Noah: I have been working on an album since the
beginning of the year. I have been living on a boat for two years
and a half so I drafted a few pieces, went into studio mode in
May-June, wrapped it all up late June and recorded a video right
afterwards. We released a single, this summer, called “Viens” and
the album [is] out [since] September 6. It’s called “Bonheur
Indigo” [Translator’s note: Indigo Joy]. I’m really pleased with it!
OA : À partir de la sortie de l'album, où seras-tu
amené à jouer ?
YN : Je vais être en mode promo, pendant deux mois. Donc
c'est pas mal de télé, pas mal de radio et beaucoup de petits
concerts de 3-4 morceaux pour des radios – des radios qui sont
partenaires, qui ont envie de travailler avec moi. On va faire ça
jusqu'à fin octobre. Ensuite, on va sortir un deuxième single
avec une petite promotion aussi – mais après, tranquille jusqu'au
mois de mars. Et là, mars-avril, on fait deux mois de répétitions
et on part sur une tournée d'un an.
OA : Une tournée qui vous emmènera vers quels
horizons ?
YN : On fait la métropole à fond, l'Europe francophone et puis
après, selon les demandes, on fait tous les festivals et les îles, le
Canada... Mais on lance déjà la tournée sur 8 mois puis on voit
où est-ce qu'on peut aller jouer.
OA: After the album release, where will you be
performing?
YN: I will be on full promotion mode for two months. So that
means a lot of TV appearances, a lot of radio presence and a
myriad of 3-4-track showcases for radios – some radio partners
and others willing to work with me. That’s what we’ll be doing
until late October. Then, we will release a second single featuring
a short promotion plan as well – but after that, things should be
quiet until March, at least. And then, in March-April, we’ll kick
off a two-month rehearsal phase before launching a year-long
tour.
OA: Where on the planet will that tour take you?
YN: We’ll tour all around mainland France, French-speaking
Europe and then, based on demand, we’ll perform at every
festival, in overseas France, Canada… But we’ll start with an
8-month tour and see where we go from there.
OA : "Bonheur Indigo" : d’où t’es venue l'inspiration
de ce titre ?
YN : Dans ma musique, il y a une chose que j'essaie de faire, à
une exception près – l'album précédent –, c'est de toujours proposer
quelque chose de positif. Essayer aussi de parler de choses
vécues. De la vie que j'ai qui est très certainement privilégiée
puisque depuis longtemps je vis des choses belles ! Mon dernier
OA: “Bonheur Indigo”: where have you drawn the
inspiration for this title?
YN: The one thing I always strive to achieve with my music –
aside from the previous album – is promoting something positive.
I also try to sing about things I have actually experienced. About
the life I’m living because it is clearly a privileged life, just for the
fact that I’ve been experiencing beautiful things for the longest
