faire au fil des ans – parce que mes débuts dans la musique ne
datent pas d’hier ! Mais à un moment donné, j’ai pris du recul et me
suis dit : Hé ! Fais quelque chose que tu veux faire et aimes faire. Je
pourrais faire du rock à ma façon ! Je pourrais faire de la country à
ma façon… tu vois ? Le roots, le reggae et tout ça… La fusion est
là. Elle est en moi. Donc je pense que le moment est venu de
s’ouvrir et de partager, et de rencontrer du monde – différents
musiciens qui peuvent donner forme à telle ou telle idée – c’est tout
bon. L’essentiel c’est de partager !
OA : Comment te définirais-tu en tant qu’artiste ?
Patou : Ce serait beaucoup de choses mais je dirais que je
fonctionne à l’humain. Musicalement parlant. Quand tu montes sur
scène, je dois dire que c’est la guerre. Quel genre de guerre ? Une
guerre musicale ! Et tu dois sonder le visage de chacun pour voir si
tu as la moindre chance. Puis tu vas peut-être tomber sur un visage
en particulier et ce visage va te dire exactement ce que tu es censé
faire, ce que tu es en train de faire et comment tu le fais. Et cette
personne établit la connexion avec le reste.
Donc j’aime vraiment travailler à partir de
l’humain.
OA : As-tu un objectif en particulier,
niveau musique ?
Patou : Tenter de le faire à fond. Je ne suis
pas musicien à plein temps ! J’ai un boulot, 7
heures par jour… dans un bureau de poste. Ce
n’est que lorsque les vacances arrivent que je me plonge dans la
musique. Mais j’aimerais tenter de m’y consacrer à fond pendant
quelques années.

music... From what you're feeling deep down, from what you
have done for many many years – because it's not from yesterday
I'm doing music, you know! But at one time now, I look back and
say : Hey! Do something you want to do and you like to do. I
could do a rock in my style! I could do a country in my style... you
know? The roots, the reggae and all of that... The fusion is there.
I have it in me. So I think the time is now to open up and share,
and meeting people – different musicians at the same time and
realise that they could do exactly the part that I want here or there
– it's all good. The important thing is to share!
OA: How would you define yourself, as an artist?
Patou: It would be a lot of things but I would say I work with
the people. Musically. When you hit the stage, I must say it's a
war. What kind of war? A musical war! And then you have to
look at everybody's faces to see if you have a chance. And then
you could look at one face and that one face will tell you exactly
what you're supposed to do, what you're doing and how you're
doing it. And that person makes the
connection with the rest. So I really just love
to deal with people.
OA: Anything in particular you
would like to achieve, with your
music?
Patou: Give it a shot of a full time. I am not
just a musician! I have a job, 7 hours a day... at a post office. And
then, when a vacation comes, I go into music. But I'd love to give
it a shot of a good couple of years.
OA : Une scène sur laquelle tu aimerais passer ?
Patou : N’importe où, n’importe quand – je suis ouvert. Mais il y
a des scènes de folie, crois-moi ! Comme le California Reggae On
the River Festival… différents types de concerts auxquels j’aimerais
vraiment participer. C’est juste une question de temps. D’être
patient et de faire les choses et de les faire bien une fois le moment
venu. Et ce qui est en train se faire… se fait déjà !
OA: What's a stage that you would like to be on?
Patou: Anywhere, anyplace, anytime – that's open. But there's
some mean stage, trust me! Like the California Reggae On the
River Festival... different types of concerts that I'd really like to
pass through. It's just a matter of time. Just to be patient and
make sure you do it and do it right when the time comes. And
what is happening now... is happening!
