« DE MÉMOIRE D’ANCIENS », DE VICTOIRE THEISMANN
The Commuter: A director, psychoanalyst, author, public
speaker, lover of life and St Barts … Victoire Theismann,
what inspired you to make this movie?
Victoire Theismann: I was feeling nostalgic about the St
Barts that I used to know. I wanted to show the soul of this
unique place. I thought that the best way to do this was to
meet up with the older folk whom I knew, and to become
acquainted with others I was yet to encounter, in order to let
them share their stories about St Barts.
TC: How did your idea become a reality?
VT: Over the course of several years, I gradually developed a
rapport with this older generation, who came to realize that
my intentions were genuine and sincere. I subsequently got to
know Cédric Robion, a fellow lover of St Barts. He had a production
company on the island, as well as a movie camera;
and thanks to the support of the Collectivity and several television
channels, we were able to embark on this adventure.
The Commuter : Tour à tour réalisatrice, psychanalyste,
auteure, conférencière, amoureuse de la vie et de Saint
Barth… Victoire Theismann, comment vous est venue l’idée
de réaliser le film « De mémoire d’Anciens » ?
Victoire Theismann : J’étais nostalgique du Saint Barth que
j’avais connu. J’ai eu envie de montrer l’âme de ce lieu unique.
Je me suis dit que la meilleure façon pour partager cela était
de retrouver les anciens que je connaissais, de rencontrer
ceux que je ne connaissais pas, et de les écouter me parler
de Saint Barth.
TC : Comment êtes-vous passée de l’idée à la réalisation ?
VT : Pendant plusieurs années, petit-à-petit, j’ai créé un climat
de confiance avec les « anciens ». Ils ont fini par comprendre
que mon intention était sincère et authentique. Puis,
j’ai fait la connaissance de Cédric Robion, un autre amoureux
de Saint Barth. Il avait une maison de production sur l’île, une
caméra et grâce au soutien de la Collectivité et de quelques
