EUSKARARA ITZULITAKO HAUR ETA GAZTE LITERATURA

Xabier Etxanizek honako definizio hau eskaintzen du:
Haur eta gazte literatura, beraz, haurrentzat edo
gazteentzat idatzia izan ala ez izan, beraiei irakurtzean
atsegina sentiarazten dien testu multzoa litzateke. Testu
multzo horrek, gainera, hizkera berezia izan beharko luke
(Etxaniz, 1997a:69).

Children’s literature, disturbingly enough, can quite
reasonably be defined as books read by, especially
suitable for, or especially satisfying for, members of the
group currently defined as children (Hunt, 1991:61).

The definition of “children’s literature” lies at the
heart of its endeavour: it is a category of books the

egindakoa da:
Although the distinction is administrative rtaher than
literary, it must have some effect on the way books are
written. Yet authors are individualist, and still tend to
write the book they want to rather than will fit into a
category. Arguments whether such-and-such a books is
“really for children” are always cropping up, and are
usually pointless in any but organizational terms. The
only practical definition of a children’s book today —
absurd as it sounds— is “a book which appears on the
children’s list of a publisher. (Townsend, 1971:10).
