lecture. (Cok van der Voort, in van Leuven-Zwart &
Naaijkens, 1991:66-67)
II.2.4.3. Gideon Toury-ren lan programatikoa.
Arestian aipatutako bilduma guztietan parte hartutako ikerlari
israeldar honek funtsezko lan bat argitaratu zuen 1980an: In Search
of a Theory of Translation. Han, egokitasuna/onargarritasuna
kontzeptuak ezartzen ditu, itzulpenaren orientazioa SH/XHrantz,
bietatik zein den bereizteko (Toury, 1980:55).
Edozein itzulpenen azterketa egiteko gogoan izan beharreko
kontzeptua “itzulpen-baliokidetza” da, hau da, hizkuntza natural
batez idatzitako ST bat, beste hizkuntza natural batez idatzitako
beste XT batez ordezkatzean sortzen diren harremanak. Toury-k
aitortzen duenez, kontzeptu horren ideia Catford-i zor dio:
Let us start our consideration of translation
equivalence with a somewhat modified version of
Catford’s general definition (1965:50), a modification
which may be justified according to Catford’s own
treatment of the concept throughout his book, even if the
exact formulation is not to be found in it: “Translation
equivalence occurs when a SL and a TL text (or item) are
relatable to (at least some of) the same relevant features.”
(op. cit.:37).
Ondoren, itzulpengintzari buruzko aurreko jokabide
normatiboak (Linguistikaren alorretik zetozenak bereziki) kritikatu,
eta itzulpenen azterketa deskriptibo sistematikorako oinarriak
ezartzen ditu, XH abiapuntutzat hartuta:
This is also to say that descriptive translation studies
are not to be reduced to mere comparative analyses of
target and source texts (or parts of texts). Moreover, it is
clear that this type of study itself, comparative study, is
not really justifiable unless on the basis of the
identification of the target texts and its constitutive
elements as translational phenomena from the point of
view of the target system. (op. cit.:84).
