lightness trend should be upper-bracket vehicles, but subsequently
aluminium body panels will find use in other vehicle
classes too. According to Ulnick, especially, who introduced
the analysis of the US market, manufacturers are
faced with the challenge of reducing the weight of vehicles
by a further 10% in order to meet the target in terms of
emissions. In this context aluminium is gaining popularity,
On the medium and short term the material mix will
however be fundamental: a technological cocktail
which includes high-strength steels and aluminium
as well as magnesium, fibres and composites.
