Luxury, art, sustainability. These are the three key<br />
words which identify Soetsu, the women’s clothing line<br />
and accessories produced in Japan and, as from April,<br />
distributed by the brand Genten.<br />
In 2015,the brand started a collaboration with the Japan<br />
Leather Promotion Committee in Tokyo to produce<br />
leatherwear with a watchful eye on the production<br />
and a focus on traditional Japanese art. Soetsu is a<br />
particular line which wants to return to the concept<br />
of fashion respectful of nature and the environment,<br />
back to the origins. The heart of the project, indeed, is<br />
about employing natural leather, which changes with<br />
time, becoming old, becoming precious. (Genten’s<br />
same notion).<br />
Entirely in hand-made, vegetable tanned leather by Japanese<br />
craftsmen, the debut collection is loosely based<br />
on the xylography “The great wave of Kanagawa” and<br />
the other more famous works by the Japanese artist<br />
Katsushika Hokusai (Tokyo 1760 – 1849). The pic-<br />

prodotta in Giappone e distribuita da aprile sotto l’insegna<br />
del brand Genten.<br />
La griffe ha infatti attivato a Tokyo nel 2015 una collaborazione<br />
con la Japan Leather Promition Committee, con l’obbiettivo<br />
di produrre capi in pelle mantenendo una profonda<br />
attenzione sulla lavorazione e un focus sull’arte tradizionale<br />
giapponese. Soetsu è una linea particolare che vuole tornare<br />
al concetto di una moda vicina al rispetto della natura<br />
e dell’ambiente, un tuffo all’origine. Il cuore del progetto<br />
infatti riguarda l’utilizzo di pelle naturale, che cambia nel<br />
tempo, invecchia, diventa preziosa. (lo stesso concetto di<br />
Genten).<br />
Interamente realizzata in pelle conciata al vegetale e lavorata<br />
a mano da artigiani giapponesi, la collezione di debutto è<br />
liberamente ispirata alla xilografia “La grande onda di Kanagawa”<br />
e alle altre opere più note dell’artista giapponese<br />
