For millions of people, from all the corners of the earth,<br />
“Chianti” is synonym of excellent wine and a quality<br />
lifestyle. However, Chianti is first of all an unmistakable<br />
landscape where nature meets the work of man in a<br />
unique synergy. According to various studies and historic<br />
research, this area was anciently even greener with a huge<br />
forest covering the whole area enclosed between the rivers<br />
Arno and Ombrone.<br />
Still today, 50% of the whole Chianti area is covered by woods.<br />
It is chiefly coppice (“bosco ceduo”, from the Latin<br />
“caedo” cut), able to regenerate naturally and therefore<br />
especially suitable for firewood. Oak trees, Turkey oaks,<br />
beech trees, cypress trees, stone and maritime pine trees dot<br />
the ridges of the hills meeting the intricate underwood of<br />

Per milioni di persone, da un angolo all’altro del pianeta,<br />
“Chianti” è sinonimo di ottimo vino e di uno<br />
stile di vita di qualità. Il Chianti, però, è prima di<br />
tutto un paesaggio inconfondibile in cui la natura incontra<br />
l’opera dell’uomo in una sinergia unica. Secondo vari studi<br />
e ricerche storiche, anticamente quest’area doveva essere<br />
ancora più verde, con un’immensa foresta che copriva l’intero<br />
territorio racchiuso tra l’Arno e l’Ombrone.<br />
Ancora oggi, il territorio chiantigiano è ricoperto di boschi<br />
per circa il 50% della propria estensione. Si tratta in gran<br />
parte di bosco ceduo (dal latino caedo, “taglio”), capace di<br />
rigenerarsi naturalmente e quindi particolarmente idoneo<br />
per trarne legname da ardere. Querce, cerri, lecci, cipressi,<br />
pini domestici e marittimi costellano i crinali delle colline
