The Onderzoekinstituut voor Geschiedenis en Cultuur (OGC; Research Institute for
History and Culture) is a Research Institute of the Faculty of Arts, which is a subdivision
of the Faculty of Arts and the Humanities of Utrecht University since 2004.
Its research areas are Ancient and Medieval Cultures; Intellectual Culture and the
Cultural Infrastructure of the Modern Age; The Cultural Construction of Media;
Arts, Culture and their Contexts; Art History; Literary Studies; Oriental Studies;
International and Political History; Social and Economic History and Gender
Studies. The Research Institute participates in nine National Research Schools.
