The term Haugesundshalv~ya is used here for those parts
which Ekrheim (1934) calls outer and middle Haugesundshalv~ya.
By outer is meant the districts west of &fjord and Skjoldfjord;
by middle, those in the west bounded by the fjords above-mentioned,
and, in the east, by 0lenfjord and Sandeidfjord. The outer
part mainly consists of heather heaths with little woodland, only
7.76y0 ; heights more than 100 m above sea level are rare. The
middle part has higher mountains, up to 1000 m above sea level,
and it is much more wooded, 23,5% of the area being covered.
