The Norwegian species of Niditinea Petersen 59
T. pallescentella and T. semilineatella, but there is no definite
proof that they are distinct. Petersen (1957) f. inst., figures only
one large cluster of tooth-like cornuti in 7'. pallescentella, while
T. semilineatella has a small cornuti in addition. Furthermore, in
T. pallescentella, Petersen has found small signa in the bursa, but
no signa have been observed by me in T. semilineatella.
A new locality in Norway is Nnv: Stamsund where Mr. R.
Mehl collected several specimens from stores of dried codfish
in July 1963.
For the loan of tineid materials my thanks are due to Dr. L. R.
Natvig, Zoological Museum, Oslo, Mr. B. Christiansen, Zoological
Museum, Tromsp, and Mr. J. Fjelddalen, The Norwegian Institute
of Plant Protection (Division of Entomology). For the loan of
Tinea columbariella Wck. I am indebted to Dr. H. J. Hannemann,
Zoologisches Museum der Humboldt-Universitat, Berlin, Dr.
C. H. Lindroth, Zoological Institute, Lund, Mr. B. W. Rasmussen,
Zoological Museum, Copenhagen and Mr. I. Svensson, Osterslov,
Sweden.
Mr. J. D. Bradley, Commonwealth Institute of Entomology,
London, has very kindly given me specimens of '1 . columbariella,
and my thanks are also due to Mr. N. L. Wolff, Hellerup, Denmark,
for the gift of T. columbariella and 1. pallescentella, and
to Mr. R. Mehl, Oslo, for furnishing me with materials of the
latter and T. pellionella. I owe my thanks to the photographer,
Mr. N. Knaben, Zoological Museum, Oslo.
For financial support I am indepted to the Norwegian Research
Council for Sciense and Humanities.
Summary
Norwegian materials of the genera Niditinea Pet. and 7 inea L.
have been examined, with the result that two species were found
new to the Norwegian fauna, viz, Niditinea piercella (Bent.) and
Tinea columbariella Wck. Furthermore, a description is given of
Tinea svenssoni sp. nov. which is closely related to ; . columbariella.
In order to study the variation of 7. columbariella, I have
examined specimens fram Denmark, England, Germany and
Sweden.
Nemapogon parasitellus (Hb.) should be deleted from the Norwegian
list, as the specimen in question turned out to be Niditinea
fuscipunctella (Haw.).
