PRESENTATION
Over the past 15 Years Portugal has substantially
invested in renewable energy and energy
efficiency. Nowadays Portugal is internationally
known as a pioneering country in renewables, a country
that knew how to take advantage of its endogenous energy
resources to generate more than half of the electricity
consumption, well above the European average.
With regards to the wind energy, Portugal has one of
the highest incorporation rates in the energy mix among
European countries, and in the area of solar currently
there are 150 MW installed.
In terms of hydropower there is an ongoing investment plan
of 3.7 billion euros that will increase from 42% to more
than 75% the national share of this resource until 2020.
Regarding micro-generation, there are about 150
thousand micro producers (heat and power) in Portugal.
Concerning biomass, there are 359 MW of installed
capacity power in cogeneration and 106 MW on
dedicated power production .
On the other hand, Portugal is one of the countries with
the largest share of energy efficient lighting.
The investment in Smart Grids was not overlooked and
Portugal is on track to have a nationwide network.
This experience has been crucial for Portugal to become
a country with a skilled workforce, with capacity for
innovation and a country that exports technology for
conversion of renewable energy and provides services in
support of projects worldwide. Portugal is also a prime
spot for testing new concepts and prototypes.
Portuguese companies are well placed in what concerns
the development of innovative technologies showing to
the world new solutions that make them competitive
and generates dynamics of cooperation, innovation and
internationalization.
The promotion of exports of goods and services offered
by Portuguese companies is an absolute necessity
in the perspective of the relaunch of the Portuguese
economy. Any strategy oriented towards this goal must
go through an adequate disclosure of those companies,
their products and their skills.
In the context of its program of support for
internationalization “Renewables from Portugal”,
EnergyIN decided to gather and display some of the
distinctive skills that the Portuguese companies can
offer to the global market.
This catalog intends to serve as a brief presentation
of some companies, projects, products, services
and solutions that can support the development of
renewable energy projects anywhere in the world.
Hopefully this document will be the starting point
for successful partnerships and new business deals,
contributing to an increasingly widespread use of
renewable energy for sustainable economic growth
globally and to increase the volume and technological
contents of exports of goods and services offered by
Portuguese companies.
