capacidade produtiva chega a marca de 1,5 milhão
de t (toneladas) de celulose por ano, sendo
1,1 milhão de t de celulose branqueada de fibra
curta (eucalipto) e 400 mil t de celulose branqueada
de fibra longa (pinus), parte convertida em
celulose fluff.
“O Puma é a experiência brasileira de excelência
e ousadia que, esperamos, sirva de exemplo
do país que queremos para nossos filhos e
netos. É o reforço do já mundialmente reconhecido
compromisso com o meio ambiente da Klabin.
É a demonstração que investimentos podem
ser feitos com preocupação social, traduzidos em
dezenas de projetos relacionados à saúde, educação,
moradia e lazer”, resume o diretor Fábio
Schvartsman. “Este projeto é um divisor de águas
para a Klabin, um projeto coringa que permite ao
Brasil escolher pela substituição das importações
e incrementar o PIB (Produto Interno Bruto) em
R$ 1 bilhão”, calcula.
PALAVRA DO PRESIDENTE
Durante a solenidade de inauguração, o presidente
em exercício Michel Temer ressaltou a
importância da iniciativa privada para o crescimento
do país. De acordo com ele, serão esses
investimentos, aliados à força de trabalho, que
farão o Brasil crescer. “Quando falo na iniciativa
privada, falo na conjugação daqueles que empregam
e daqueles que estão empregados. É a
combinação dessas duas forças que fazem o país

said Paulo Galvão, Chairman of the Board of the Administrative
Council of Klabin.
With the factory, Klabin becomes a fiber solution
company; now it is the only company in Brazil to produce,
in the same plant, short-fiber bleached pulp, long-
-fiber bleached pulp, and fluff pulp.
The Puma Unit is the largest private investment in
the history of the State of Paraná, with an investment
of R$ 8.5 billion, including infrastructure and recoverable
taxes, and built in 24 months, as budgeted. Its production
capacity is scheduled to reach the mark of 1.5
million mt of pulp per year, with 1.1 million mt of bleached
short-fiber pulp (eucalyptus) and 400 thousand
mt of bleached long-fiber pulp (pine), part of which is
converted into fluff pulp.
“Puma is a Brazilian experience in excellence and
courageousness, which, we hope, will serve the Country
that we want for our children and grandchildren. It
strengthens Klabin’s already recognized worldwide commitment
to the environment. It is a demonstration that
investments can be made with social concern, and translated
into dozens of projects related to health, education,
housing and leisure,” says Fabio Schvartsman, Director of
Klabin. “This project is a watershed for Klabin, a project
that allows Brazil to choose for substituting imports and
increasing GDP in R$ 1 billion,” he calculates.
