Ao longo do projeto, para definir investimentos
sociais, a Klabin fez em 2012 um diagnóstico
nos municípios de Ortigueira, Imbaú e Telêmaco
Borba, área de influência direta da nova fábrica.
Por meio de um amplo processo participativo,
ela desenvolveu o Plano de Ação Socioambiental
do Projeto Puma, plano este composto por
diversas iniciativas nas áreas de saúde, educação,
cultura, lazer, meio ambiente e agricultura familiar.
Já as obras de infraestrutura contemplaram a
pavimentação das estradas da Campina e Minuano,
a melhoria da estrada Estratégica e a construção
de uma nova ponte interligando as margens
esquerda e direita do Rio Tibagi. A Klabin
também construiu um ramal ferroviário de 23,5
km (quilômetros) de extensão ligando a fábrica
à Ferrovia Central do Paraná. A distância média
entre a área florestal e a Unidade Puma é de 72
km.
A operação florestal da Klabin na região de
Telêmaco e Ortigueira é atualmente uma das
maiores do mundo, abastecendo as unidades
Monte Alegre e Puma. Para a nova fábrica, foram
construídos 100 km de linhas de transmissão,
além de possuir as duas maiores turbinas para
geração de energia elétrica já fabricadas em todo
o mundo para a indústria de papel e celulose.

In 2012, as part of the project, in order to define
social investments, Klabin carried out a diagnosis in the
Municipalities of Ortigueira, Imbaú and Telêmaco Borba,
the area of direct influence of the new factory. Through a
broad participatory process, it developed a Social-Environmental
Action Plan for the Puma project, which consists
of various initiatives in the health, education, culture,
leisure, environment and family agriculture areas.
The infrastructure works contemplate the paving of
the Campina and Minuano roads, improving the strategic
road network and the construction of a new bridge
connecting the left and right margins of the Tibagi River.
Klabin also built a 23.5 km branch line connecting the
factory to the Paraná Ferrovia Central (Railway). The average
distance between the forest area and the Puma Unit
is 72 km.
Klabin’s forestry operation in the Telemaco and Ortigueira
Region is currently one of the largest in the world,
supplying the Monte Alegre and Puma units. For the new
factory, 100 kilometers of transmission lines were built,
as well as having two of the largest power generation
turbines ever built in the world for the pulp and paper
industry.
