E a carreira internacional, veio logo?
Depois que fiz meu primeiro trabalho internacional com a
Madonna quando ela veio para o Rio de Janeiro, em 2009.
Isso abriu muitas portas lá fora. Mas o primeiro foi esse e
foi muito especial, porque foi o primeiro. Era independente
da vida pessoal, fui selecionado pelo meu estilo brasileiro.
Foi uma janela que se abriu.
Sofreu preconceito no meio? As pessoas te associavam a
Madonna?
Sempre rola. Nunca explícito, mas tinha. Não digo que
sofri, porque me foram abertas tantas portas. O preconceito
é natural do ser humano, porque todo mundo que migra de
uma carreira para outra já recebe uma certa rejeição, tipo
“pô o cara é ator é quer vir aqui tocar no meu festival.” Tem
muita vaidade entre os DJs, é pior que na televisão.
Estudou para ser ator?
Sempre estou fazendo cursos de atuação. Nunca parei.
Quando era novo fiz cursos soltos, workshops, sempre que
posso vou ao Sergio Penna no Rio que é uma fera do cinema.
Ele me dá curso de uma semana. Este ano fui duas vezes.
Sempre que aparece uma oportunidade já estou pronto para
mergulhar de cabeça no projeto.
Já fez teatro e televisão, qual é mais difícil?
Cada um tem os seus desafios. O teatro com certeza é mais
desafiador. A energia do ao vivo, do que está acontecendo
naquele momento, é mais intensa. Por mais desafiador que
seja atuar em novela e filme, tem esse lado mais relax de
poder voltar caso erre.
O que dá mais frio na barriga, tocar ou enfrentar uma
passarela?
Hoje em dia é ser pai (risos). Mas voltando a pergunta, tocar
faço sempre, mas a passarela tenho um certo desconforto.
Não estou tão confiante. Tocando tenho mais troca com
o público, então acho que tenho menos frio na barriga. A
passarela é muito instantânea.
Qual papel gostaria de interpretar?
Gosto muito da vibe do Game of Thrones, temas medievais,
novela de época. Acho muito legal mergulhar no passado.
Did the international career come right after?
After I did my first international job, with Madonna when she
came to Rio de Janeiro, in 2009. This opened many doors
abroad. But the first was this and it was very special because
it was the first. It was independent of my personal life; I was
selected for my Brazilian style. It was a window that opened
for me.
Did you suffer any prejudice while doing this? Did people
associate you with Madonna?
There is always some association. Never explicit, but there
was. I’m not saying that I suffered because this opened so
many doors. Bias is a natural human being thing, because
everyone who migrates from one career to another receives
a certain rejection, like “put in the guy who is an actor and
wants to come here and play at my festival”. There’s a lot of
vanity amongst DJs, and it is worse than on TV.
Did you study to be an actor?
I’m always taking acting lessons. I never stopped. When I was
young, I took the odd lesson, workshops, and when I can, I go
to Sergio Penna in Rio who is a beast of cinema. I take a week
of lessons. This year I have been twice. Whenever there’s a
chance, I’m ready to dive head-first into a project.
You have already done theatre and TV, which is more difficult?
Each has its challenges. The theater is definitely more challenging.
The energy of acting live, happening at that moment is
more intense. Challenging as acting in telenovelas and film is,
it has this more relaxing side where you can go back if you err.
What gives you more butterflies playing or facing a catwalk?
Nowadays, it is being a father (smiling). But back to the question,
playing, I am always doing it, but doing the catwalk is still
unsettling, I’m not so confident. With playing, there is more
interchange with the audience, so I think I have butterflies in
my stomach then. The catwalk is more instantaneous.
What role would you like to play?
I love the vibes in the Game of Thrones, medieval themes, a
telenovela of the times. I think it is great diving into the past.
When I did the Passion of Christ, I felt that emotion too. It
