Within the framework of the reconstruction,
newly built automatic
radio technical posts of the
VTS ARTP-3 (kh. Pavlo-Ochakovo),
ARTP-4 (Lotspost bay) and base
radio station GMSSB No. 2 were
put into operation. The Taganrog
Bay VTS meets all modern requirements
for the highest category
VTS and has a certificate of approval
of the onshore facility issued
by the Federal Agency for
Maritime and River Transport.

In 2013, an automated software
and hardware complex for
measuring the level of the water

In 2013, the navigation equipment
was upgraded from the receiving
buoy No. 1 of the Azov-Don
Sea Canal to 3,121 km of the Don
River: in addition to the existing 58
units of floating warning signs, another
44 units of new floating
warning signs were purchased;
light-optical flashing devices with
transponders were installed to
transmit data on their condition to
the coastal monitoring station.
In 2014, the overhaul of berth
wall No. 2 was completed, with
the aim of extending the service
life of a hydraulic structure, designed
for lay-up and ship repair
at a production and repair base in
the seaport of Taganrog.
5 fleet units were upgraded:
in 2012 – two tugs (Dobrynya
and Muromets) and one servicetraveling
boat (Stremitelniy), in
2016 – a pilot-master vessel
(Yuriy Romanchenko) and a hydrographic
boat (Vega).
At present, the Azov Basin
Branch is taking measures to develop
project documentation for
the VTS of the port of Rostov-on-
Don and VTS of the Port of Eysk facilities,
as well as the creation of
the coastal NAVTEKS station.
There are also activities aimed at
improving the conditions of navigation
on the stretch of the Don River
from 3121 km to 3169 km.

The most significant statutory activities of the branch:
ensuring the passage of ships through the approach channels;
services for the installation and maintenance of navigation
equipment;
navigation services using the VTS;
icebreaking services;
ensuring transport security in the waters of the ports;
pilotage services in the port of Taganrog;
environmental services in the port of Taganrog.
The key objectives of the branch:
ensuring the effective operation of port infrastructure facilities
and the implementation of its development tasks;
maintenance of navigation parameters of underwater hydraulic
structures in seaports;
intensification of the fleet renewal program;
ensuring the safety of navigation at the level of national and international
standards;
provision of high-quality services to ensure safe navigation of
vessels in the waters of seaports and on the approaches to them.
