Kovcheg group is a group of
companies engaged in
river and sea towing and
transportation of oversized
cargo on waterways of the Russian
Federation on the Caspian,
Black and Azov Seas.
The group includes two companies:
OOO SK Salima and OOO
KovchegTransLogistic (KTL).

What exactly does each of them
do and what would you like to
highlight?
– The activities of both companies
are similar.
This is primarily the towing of
oversized objects and the transportation
of oversized cargo through
the internal waters of the Russian
Federation and by sea routes.
Most often, we accept objects
for towing on the waterways
of the Russian Federation
in European ports. For example:
in 2016-2018 we towed objects
from Greece and from Holland,
towed barges with cargo, vessels,
the dimensions of which (or
other restrictions) do not allow
us to go both by sea and by IWW
of the Russian Federation, we
deliver them to their destination
(ports of the Caspian Sea). We
always carry out all the work on
the «turnkey» principle.
In case of need for multimodal
transportation, our customers do
not have to look for several consecutive
carriers, since we provide
the full range of services.
That is, if required, we use several
types of transport, which is very
convenient for the customer.
In multimodal works, we also
carry out the principle of
work – «turnkey».
This principle is simple: the
customer gives us the cargo or
vessel at the port of departure, or
in any other convenient place, and
we return this object or cargo to
the port or place where the customer
requires. It can be any port,
as in the Caspian, Black, Azov
Seas, or any other ports.
All work: obtaining all kinds of
permits for towing, development
and coordination of projects of
the haul, pontoon and so on, we
do ourselves!

That is, we completely undertake
all the difficulties and problems
of the customer (including legal
and customs support).
We work with all customers,
both Russian and foreign, without
limiting the geographical location
of the place of service.
We are committed to long-term
cooperation, and therefore for our
regular customers we always have

And our work is structured so
that both parties get the maximum
benefit.
– How long has your group been
working in the freight market?
– We have been working since
2001. And today the company has
extensive experience in towing and
transporting heavy (project) cargo.
Over the years, we have carried out
more than 90 tows and transported
about 30 project cargoes.
– Do you just tow and transport?
– Currently, Kovcheg Group
also provides legal support services
for sea and river companies.
We have qualified lawyers
and attorneys on the law of the
sea on our staff. And we already
have positive results in this direction.
Not every company today
has a practicing maritime lawyer
on its staff, and we provide legal
support to such companies. We
also provide representation services
in the Russian Federation,
helping to solve legal problems in
their work. That is, if you are a foreign
company, you do not have to
open a representative office in
the Russian Federation, we are a
ready-made office with professional
employees who provide
any services in the field of sea/
river services and so on.
We also provide agency services.
The complex of works includes:
registration of arrival and
departure of vessels, opening and
closing of the border, technical
supply, organizing bunkering with
fuel and lubricants and fresh water,
we assist in crew replacement, arrange
meetings, ticket orders, issue
permits at the Ministry of
Transport of the Russian Federation
for a one-time trip through the
internal waters of Russia for transit
vessels under a foreign flag. And
this is not the whole range of services
that we provide to our customers,
it is quite wide.
Also, our company is engaged
in financing social programs. In
particular, we are one of the organizers
and participants of the
Adoption Support Center. We assist
families who adopted orphans.
This includes holiday
camps for children, legal support,
and consultations, and all kinds of
other assistance.
– What works of Kovcheg Group
are you especially proud of?
– The motto of our companies
is to carry out work as efficiently,
openly and as quickly as
possible, and I believe that we
successfully cope with this! The
level of our design work is different.
If towing vessels is a fairly
common thing, then, for example,
transporting a residential
module for a drilling rig, with its
installation at sea, is somewhat
more complicated. And we transported
and installed such residential
modules from Astrakhan
to Murmansk. There were also
shipments of aircraft, dredgers.
We have successful experience
in towing drilling rigs, floating hotels
and other oversized objects.
We are known as a company that
tows objects and delivers goods
that others have refused.
Our clients are always satisfied
with the result, and this is the
main thing. After all, we work for
them and it is thanks to them that
Kovcheg Group presently has
such a high status.
– How do you imagine the future
of Kovcheg Group?
– I think, in future we will
broaden the circle of customers
and the areas of activity. So development
is our only plan.
