“It was a mistake that rightist and leftist
intellectuals externalize each other”
O
sman Akkuşak still continues
his writing adventure that had
started with a pencil sixty years
ago from now. Here, I intentionally
made the “pencil” emphasize. Today
almost all the authors write their writings
in digital media and Akkuşak is
the only name who is continuing his
old habit today by using his pencil…
Akkuşak had born in Emet district
of Kütahya city in August, 20 1931
and his writing adventure had started
in year 1952, when he was only 21
ages old. Akkuşak had written in newspapers
namely Istanbul Ekspres, Son
Telgraf, Adalet, Zafer, Dünya, Tecüman,
Son Havadis, Zaman, Güneş, Ortadoğu,
Türkiye newspapers and today
he is continuing his writing life in Yeni
Şafak newspaper.
Akkuşak says that “I am still writing
with a pencil” and he is telling us the
publishing story of his writings written
as a draft as follows:” I am writing on
scratch papers at home. I used to write
like this and in maximum one hour my
job is finished. Then I call the newspaper
and they send me a car and I jump
in it and go. If I have time, I go downstairs
and eat something. If not, the column
must be finished until 16:00hr at
the latest. There are young people there
and I ask them to write it on the digital
media and then they print-out it. I
check it whether there are any place needing
corrections or not and if there are
anything to add in, I add it too. Writing
…. You are writing with your heart and
soul, you are writing with your mind. If
there is something bothering you; you
cannot feel comfortable. I know this
because I have called many times the
newspaper in order to change just one
word… This is a habit of mine…”
