O dobitnicima Nagrade Dražen Petrović <strong>2012.</strong> odlučivao je <strong>Odbor</strong> pod<br />
vodstvom predsjednika Zvonimira Bobana, uz članove Hrvatskog kluba<br />
olimpijaca (Zoran Primorac, Martina Zubčić, Tamara Boroš), Vijeća<br />
HOO-a (Marijan Maras, Zvjezdana Tuma Pavlov, Dragutin Kamenski)<br />
te Hrvatskog zbora sportskih novinara (Iva Perdec-Augustić, Romana<br />
Caput-Jogunica i Vinko Knežević).<br />
Winners of the award “Drazen Petrovic” 2012<br />
At the Museum of Drazen Petrovic, founded in the honor of this tragically killed<br />
Croatian basketball player, three-time Olympic medalist (after which the award for<br />
young top athletes was named), in the presence of numerous notables from sports and<br />
political life, the sixth award ceremony of these prestigious COC acknowledgements was<br />
held.<br />
Besides the top athletes and Olympians and the hosts, the President and the Secretary<br />
General of COC, Mr. Zlatko Matesa and Mr. Josip Cop and Drazen Petrovic’s mother<br />
Biserka, the ceremony was attended by the first President of the COC and honorary<br />
IOC member Mr. Antun Vrdoljak, all the members of the COC Council, Assistant<br />
Minister of Sports Mr. Petar Skansi, President of the Parliamentary Committee for<br />
Family, Youth and Sports Ms. Jadranka Kosor, President of the Zagreb City Assembly<br />
Mr. Davor Bernardic and other guests.<br />
For outstanding sports results in the Olympic year 2012 and in the competition<br />
that requires respect, the most successful female athlete of younger age groups is the<br />
taekwondo fighter Mateja Kunovic, who won third place in the category up to 46 kg at<br />
the World Junior Championship <strong>2012.</strong><br />
The most successful young athlete for 2012 is the pole vaulter, Croatian Olympian Ivan<br />
Horvat who, besides the performance at London Olympics, won the second place and<br />
silver medal at the World Junior Championship in Barcelona. Ivan Horvat is the first<br />
Croatian pole vaulter who performed at the Olympic Games.<br />
Concerning the female teams, the award went to the Croatian national junior table<br />
tennis team composed of Lea Rakovac, Matea Jeger, Ivana Tubikanec and Ida Jazbec,<br />
the winners of bronze medal at the European Junior Championship <strong>2012.</strong><br />
The award Drazen Petrovic went also to the gold setup Croatian junior basketball team<br />
Marko Proleta. Tomislav Gabric, Karlo Lebo, Jakov Mustapic, Lovro Demo, Dario<br />
Saric, Mislav Brzoja, Dominik Mavra, Antonio Crnjevic, Daniel Zovko, Marin Maric<br />
and Karlo Zganec, the winners of gold medal at the U18 Championship in Lithuania<br />
and Latvia.<br />
The COC Selection Committee declared Brigita Matic, the actual European cadet<br />
champion in judo, the greatest hope among female athletes. The greatest hope among<br />
male athletes was declared the shooter Anto Kristo, who won the second place at the<br />
European Junior Championship 2012 in 10 m air pistol shooting.<br />
The most successful sports couple (in competition with sports crew and relay race) are<br />
acrobatic rock’’ n’’ roll dancers Alen Mikic and Ana Silaj, the winners of gold medal at<br />
the World Junior Championship.<br />
