Details. As a supplement to the existing buoyage at the Danish production platforms in the
North sea, the Danish Maritime Safety Administration will establish 31 virtual AIS buoys at
position 1) - 31). The AIS marking marks the individual constructions and not the safety
zone around the platforms. AIS buoyage is visible only at ship-borne AIS displays and possibly
on radar and ECDIS displays. It should be noted that not all types of AIS displays are
capable of showing virtual AIS buoyage. The graphic representation of the symbols of AIS
buoyage will follow IMO SN/circ. 243. See the figure below.
Note. Virtual AIS as a supplement to existing buoyage is a rather new method to buoy in
Danish waters. The Danish Maritime Safety Administration will appreciate information from
