Purpose: To find the prevalence and causes of visual impairment
in 6,500 randomly selected adults in the General Suburban
Population Study (GESUS).
Methods: Participants received best-corrected vision testing with a
Nidek Auto Refractometer 360-A followed by an EDTRS Eye
Chart when indicated.
