St. Valentine s Chapel
Plattkopf (2240 m)
Die Kapelle liegt an den Ausläufern des
Plattkopfes im Zillergrund, als wäre sie
Teil des Berges selbst. Massiv erbaut aus
schlichtem Stein und Holz, liegt sie inmitten
einer atemberaubenden Bergkulisse.
Auch das Innere
der Kapelle ist
einfach gehalten
und wird von
einer beinahe
lebensgroßen Figur
des Heiligen
Valentin dominiert.
Er ist der
Schutzheilige der
Verliebten.
Egal, ob in oder
vor der Kapelle,
an diesem Ort
spürt man Ruhe
und Gelassenheit – umgeben von Bergen
und mit Blick auf den See. Dafür sorgen das
kleine Gotteshaus, das 2008 vom Besitzer
des Restaurants Adlerblick erbaut wurde,
und auch die Berge, die den Zillergrund
umgeben.
Ein Sonnenuntergang an diesem einzigartigen
Platz ist ein ganz besonderes Erlebnis.
Ende August wird bei der St.-Valentins-Kapelle
meist eine Bergmesse gelesen.
Die St.-Valentins-Kapelle erreicht man
am besten von der letzten Haltestelle
des Linienbusses am Stausee im Zillergrund.
Rechts an der Aussichtsplattform des Restaurants
Adlerblick geht es in steilen Serpentinen
in einer Gehzeit von etwa einer Stunde rund
400 Meter hinauf zum Kirchlein. Den Stausee,
in dem sich die umliegenden Berge spiegeln,
hat man dabei immer im Blick.

The chapel is located in the foothills of the
Plattkopf in Zillergrund as if it were part
of the mountain itself. Solidly built out of
pure stone and wood it is situated amidst
a breathtaking mountain setting.
The inside of the
chapel has also
been kept simple
and is dominated
by an
almost lifesize
figure of Saint
Valentine. He is
the patron saint
of lovers.
Regardless of
whether you are
inside or in front
of the chapel
you feel a
sense of peace and serenity surrounded by
mountains with a view over the lake. The
small place of worship built by the owner
of the Adlerblick restaurant in 2008 and the
mountains surrounding the Zillergrund see
to this.
At this unique place the sunset is a really
special experience. At the end of August
a mountain mass is usually read at St.
Valentine‘s chapel.
St. Valentine‘s chapel can be reached
best from the last bus stop at the reservoir
in Zillergrund. To the right of the
Adlerblick restaurant‘s viewing platform
steep serpentine bends take you roughly
400 metres up to the little church on a
walk that takes about an hour. You have a
constant view of the reservoir that reflects
the surrounding mountains.
