Einen italienischen Espresso trinkt man im Stehen zwischendurch<br />
am Tresen. Ein orientalischer Mokka, raffiniert verfeinert mit<br />
Kardamom, Zimt oder Nelken, will stilvoller zelebriert werden.<br />
Erst im 17. Jahrhundert kamen die arabischen Bohnen, die nach<br />
der Hafenstadt al-Mukha am Roten Meer „Mokka“ genannt werden,<br />
über Venedig nach Europa. Mit der damals aufkommenden Türkenmode<br />
– Fantasien von märchenhafter orientalischer Pracht – wurde<br />
auch das Mokkatrinken en vogue. Um 1735 entstanden bei<br />
<strong>MEISSEN</strong> ® erstmals entsprechende Kannen.<br />
Eine davon steht bei diesem kostbaren Dejeuner in Omanrot<br />
heute wieder im Mittelpunkt. Anregungen für den von <strong>MEISSEN</strong> ®<br />
neu entwickelten Rotton fanden die Maler in der Farbvielfalt der arabischen<br />
Kunst. So vereint die Fondfarbe die vielfältige Kultur des<br />
Orients mit der Handwerkskunst von <strong>MEISSEN</strong> ® . Sie verleiht dem<br />
Service eine unaufdringliche Opulenz. Und sie bringt das aufgemalte<br />
Dekor perfekt zur Geltung: exotische Vögel aus reinem Gold, schattiert<br />
mit Sepia – eine neue Art der Vogelmalerei. Aufs Wesentliche<br />
reduziert, ergänzt sie spielerisch die opulenten Griffe und das vergoldete<br />
Tablett.<br />
It’s usual to drink an Italian espresso standing up and virtually on<br />
the move. An oriental mocha, by contrast, subtly enhanced with<br />
cardamom, cinnamon or cloves, needs to be celebrated in a more<br />
stylish manner.<br />
Arabica “mocha” beans, named after the port of Al Mukha on the<br />
Red Sea, were first shipped to Europe via Venice in the 17th century.<br />
Stoked by fanciful notions of fabulous oriental splendour, drinking<br />
mocha became fashionable as part of an emerging craze for all things<br />
Turkish. <strong>MEISSEN</strong> ® first produced pots for the purpose in around<br />
1735. One of them is now once again the focus of attention in this gem<br />
of a déjeuner in Oman red. Our artists derived the inspiration for this<br />
shade of red, only recently developed by <strong>MEISSEN</strong> ® , from the chromatic<br />
diversity of Arabic art. The ground colour is in essence a symbiosis<br />
of oriental cultural versatility and craftsmanship skills from<br />
<strong>MEISSEN</strong> ® . It lends the service an unobtrusive opulence whilst perfectly<br />
setting off the decorative detail applied. Exotic birds in pure gold<br />
with sepia shading herald a new approach to ornithological decoration.<br />
They have been pared down to the bare essentials so as to whimsically<br />
complement the opulent handles and the gilded tray.<br />
