Vor einem Jahr feierte das Treffen junger Animationsfilmemacher sein Jubiläum.
Zehn Jahre lang war Dresden der Ausgangspunkt für die gemeinsame
Erkundung osteuropäischer Animationsfilmlandschaften und -traditionen.
Nun bricht die zweite Dekade des Animation Exchange Forum an.
In Dresden, wo einst das DEFA-Trickfilmstudio zu Hause war, versammeln
sich vom 17. bis 22. April auf Einladung des Filmfests Dresden und des Goethe-
Institutes Riga 16 Talente aus ganz Europa sowie aus Israel und Ägypten. Hier
treffen sie auf ein lebendiges Publikum, besuchen Workshops, Ausstellungen
und Festivalprogramme und tauschen sich über ihre Filme und Projekte
aus. Besonderes Ziel ist es, die Animationstalente bleibend zu vernetzen und
gemeinsame Koproduktionen anzuregen. Dabei hilft maßgeblich die
DEFA-Stiftung, die auch in diesem Jahr dankenswerter Weise im Rahmen des
Forums einen Förderpreis ausschreibt. Zum zweiten Mal bietet auch
DREMATRIX ein Stipendium an, das die kreative Nutzung der ersten markerlosen
Motion Capture-Anlage an der Hochschule für Technik und Wirtschaft
(HTW) Dresden ermöglicht.
Stärker als bisher legt das Animation Exchange Forum Wert auf Praxisanteile,
so in einem Workshop mit dem erfolgreichen polnischen Team Izabela Plucinska
´ (Silberner Bär 2005) und Agata Rojek, deren Knet-Arbeiten auch in der
Ausstellung „Wandellust – Die Kunst der Knetanimation“ im Deutschen Institut
für Animationsfilm (DIAF) zu sehen sein werden. Stärker als zuvor sucht
das Forum den Kontakt zur Öffentlichkeit. In der Langen Nacht des Animationsfilms
präsentieren sich die Teilnehmer mit ihren neusten Filmen dem
Dresdner Publikum, und der Produzent Vilnis Kalnaellis (Rija Films) führt mit
ausgewählten Filmen in die Welt der lettischen Animation ein. Im Rahmen einer
Projektpräsentation, welche von der Mitteldeutschen Medienförderung
(MDM) und der MEDIA Antenne Berlin-Brandenburg unterstützt und von
Dozentin Kirsten Harder (Skript Akademie Drehbuch, Berlin) geleitet wird, erhalten
die Teilnehmer die Möglichkeit ihre neuen Projektideen vorzustellen.
Das Co-Production Dinner auf dem Staatsweingut Schloss Wackerbarth bietet
zudem einen perfekten Ort, sich mit Gleichgesinnten und Vertretern der
Branche auszutauschen, zu vernetzen und neue Projektpartner zu finden.
One year ago, the Animation Exchange Forum for young animation filmmakers
celebrated its 10th anniversary. For the last ten years, Dresden was
the starting point for heading off on a shared exploration of the eastern European
animated film scene and traditions. Now the Animation Exchange
Forum’s second decade of activities is about to commence.
In Dresden, which was once home to the DEFA Animation Film Studios,
sixteen young talents from across Europe as well as Israel and Egypt are
coming together from 17 to 22 April at the invitation of Filmfest Dresden
and the Goethe Institute in Riga. They will encounter lively audiences
here, attend workshops, exhibitions and festival programmes
and exchange views and information on their films and projects. One
specific aim in this regard is to establish a long-lasting network among
the animation talents and encourage shared co-productions. Decisive
support is provided in this respect by the DEFA Foundation which is generously
awarding its Promotion Prize again this year in the context of the
forum. Likewise, DREMATRIX is giving a stipend for the second time this
year, intended to permit the creative use of the first ever markerless motion
capture system at the HTW Applied Sciences University Dresden.
The Animation Exchange Forum is increasing its focus on practical aspects
this year, including a workshop by the successful Polish team, Izabela Plucinska
´
(Silver Bear at the 2005 Berlinale) and Agata Rojek, whose work in the
clay animation field can also be seen in the German Institute for Animated
Film (DIAF) exhibition “Wandellust – The Art of Clay Animation”. Likewise, the
forum is opening up more to the general public. In the Long Night of Animated
Film, the forum participants are presenting their latest films to a Dresden
audience, while the producer Vilnis Kalnaellis (Rija Films) is introducing
them to the world of Latvian animation with a screening of selected films.
In the context of a project presentation supported by the Central German
Media Fund (MDM) and MEDIA Antenne Berlin-Brandenburg and the lecturer
Kirsten Harder (Skript Akademie Drehbuch, Berlin), the participants
are presenting their new projects. They are also invited to a co-production
dinner at the Staatsweingut Schloss Wackerbarth state winery to network
and source new partners.
