NYK Line verbessert „Atlantic Express“
(ATX)-Service nach Nordamerika
Seit März 2008 hat die NYK Line durch den Einsatz
effizienterer Tonnage die Zuverlässigkeit des innerhalb
der Grand Alliance (NYK, OOCL, Hapag Lloyd)
betriebenen ATX-Dienstes weiter verbessert.
Die bisher eingesetzten 2.800 TEU Schiffe wurden
durch modernere Einheiten mit jeweils 4.000 TEU
ersetzt. Dieses ermöglicht sowohl eine Verbesserung
der Fahrplanintegrität als auch einen umweltschonenderen
Schiffsbetrieb. Mit dem ATX-Service bietet
die NYK Line einen direkten Liniendienst zwischen
Nordeuropa und Nordamerika, der Hamburg direkt
anläuft. In wöchentlichem Rhythmus werden an festen
Wochentagen in Nordeuropa die Häfen Rotterdam,
Hamburg, Le Havre und Southampton angelaufen;
an der nordamerikanischen Ostküste sind es die Häfen
New York, Norfolk und Charleston. Im Hamburger
Hafen werden die Schiffe am Container Terminal
Altenwerder abgefertigt. Als neuer Partner stieg in den
ATX-Service die Reederei ZIM Integrated Shipping
Services Ltd. mit einem Schiff ein. Das Tonnageangebot
auf der Transatlantik-Route blieb insgesamt
unverändert, da sich ZIM aus dem bisher betriebenen
NEX-Dienst verabschiedet hat. Die anderen Transatlantik-Dienste
der Grand Alliance bleiben unverändert
bestehen.

NYK Line improves “Atlantic Express”
(ATX) service to North America
In March 2008, the NYK Line further improved
the reliability of the ATX service operated by the
Grand Alliance (NYK, OOCL, Hapag Lloyd) by
deploying more efficient tonnage. The 2,800-TEU
vessels used to run the service previously were
replaced with more modern ships with a carrying
capacity of 4,000 TEU each. This fleet upgrade
results in improved integrity in the scheduling of
departures as well as in a more environmentally
compatible operation of the ships. The ATX service
operated by the NYK Line is a direct scheduled
liner service between northern Europe and North
America making a direct call at the Port of Hamburg.
Running weekly, the service calls at the ports of
Rotterdam, Hamburg, Le Havre and Southampton
in northern Europe and at the ports of New York,
Norfolk and Charleston on the east coast of the
U.S. on set days of the week. At the Port of Hamburg,
the ships are processed at the Container Terminal
Altenwerder. A new partner in the ATX Service is
the shipping company ZIM Integrated Shipping
Services Ltd., with one vessel. Due to ZIM’s
withdrawal from the previously operated NEX service,
the overall capacity on the transatlantic route
remains the same. The other transatlantic services
operated by the Grand Alliance remain unchanged.
