the Far East operated since 1993 and which offers
up to three departures each month, Chipolbrok is a
strong partner for the Port of Hamburg and for
export industries. The fact that the shipping company
continues to extend its commitment further is evident
in the sense that four units of the Rijeka type are to
be converted by the end of this year, providing them
with an on-board crane capacity of up to 300 t. The
markets of central Asia are to be further developed
subsequently. The first of six Orkan-type newbuilds
will follow in 2009. Chipolbrok’s fleet policy is not
only to replace old tonnage, but to create new capacities
particularly on transport routes to the Far East.

Grand Alliance bietet neuen
Europäischen Dienst
Die Grand Alliance gibt die Aufnahme eines neuen
Europäischen Dienstes bekannt. Der so genannte EU5
Service wird den bestehenden Far East Service der
NYK Line weiter ausbauen. Diese Veränderungen verdeutlichen
die Verpflichtung der NYK Line, auf die
Bedürfnisse ihrer Kunden angesichts des expansiven
chinesischen Marktes zu reagieren. Der neue EU5
Service wird, zusammen mit den Optimierungen in
den Diensten EU3 und EU4, die Fahrplanintegrität
verbessern und den Anforderungen der Kunden in
schnell wachsenden Märkten noch gezielter entsprechen.
Im EU5 Service werden acht Schiffe mit einer
Container-Kapazität von rund 5.500 TEU eingesetzt.
Die ersten Abfahrten in diesem Dienst waren westgehend
in der 16. Woche und sind ostgehend für die
20. Woche vorgesehen. In wöchentlichem Rhythmus
werden folgende Häfen angelaufen: Amsterdam –
Hamburg – Southampton – Singapur – Shanghai –
Ningbo – Xiamen – Singapur.

Grand Alliance offers new European service
The Grand Alliance announces the launch of a new
European service. The new offering, called the EU5
Service, will further augment the Far East Service operated
by the NYK Line. These changes exemplify the
commitment on the part of the NYK Line to respond
to the needs of their customers in view of the expanding
Chinese market. Along with the optimisation of
the EU3 and EU4 Services, the new EU5 Service will
further improve the integrity of the itineraries and
meet the customer requirements in rapidly growing
markets in a more targeted manner. The EU5 Service
is operated using eight ships with a container capacity
of about 5,500 TEU. The first west-bound departures in
the service was in Week 16 and east-bound departures is
scheduled to follow in Week 20. The service will call
at the following ports in a weekly cycle: Amsterdam –
Hamburg – Southampton – Singapore – Shanghai –
Ningbo – Xiamen – Singapore.
