In 2002, FILMFEST DRESDEN and the Goethe Institute initiated an exchangeevent for young European animation filmmakers. The intentionwas to come together and explore "new perspectives for animated film".As the former home to the DEFA Studio for Animated Films and our animationsavvy festival, Dresden proved to be a highly suitable and stimulatingsetting for the event. In the meantime, not only has the ANIMATIONEXCHANGE FORUM inspired young filmmakers and established networksamong them for over a decade, it has also borne quite a few creative blossoms. For the forum’s 12th edition, 12 young talents are joining us from Germanyand Georgia, as well as from France, Israel, Jordan, Bulgaria, Russia and theCzech Republic. Together, they will visit the new exhibition in the GermanInstitute for Animated Film (DIAF), become familiar with the motion capturesystem at the HTW Dresden University of Applied Sciences (DREMA-TRIX) and be invited to a co-production dinner hosted by the SächsischeAufbaubank at the Weingut Schloss Wackerbarth state winery. The centrepiece of the 2013 forum is a four-day workshop on "ProjectionMapping", headed by Jan Koester, Sonja Rohleder (animation) and MichałKrajczok (sound design) from the successful Berlin animation studio collective"Talking Animals". Commencing with a building in Dresden, a rough3D model of this "space" will be generated on the basis of its special architectureand geometry, into which short animated sequences will thenbe incorporated. During a live performance with music improvisations inthe evening after the Awards Ceremony, the object will then be animatedwith projection samples intended to match it perfectly.Furthermore, the participants will present themselves and their films publiclyto an audience in the LONG NIGHT OF ANIMATED FILM. And the participantsand audience can also look forward to the exciting programmefollowing this with selected animated films from Georgia, presented byKvali-Studio.Mit freundlicher Unterstützung vonKinogenuss mit allen Sinnen!Entdecke iSens jetzt in derUCI KINOWELT Elbe Park.UCI KINOWELT Elbe Park • Lommatzscher Str. 82 • 01139 DresdenTel.: (0351) 8 41 41 42 • www.UCI-KINOWELT.deKINOWELTKUNSTHAUS RASKOLNIKOW e.V. / GALERIE118 FILMFEST DRESDEN 2013FILMFEST DRESDEN 2013 119
