KURZ GEFASST! In a NuTShell!KURZ GEFASST! In a NuTShell!Viele Jahre Filmfest – Ich liebe es ….Vieles fällt mir ein, natürlich nur GUTES, das SCHLECHTE habe ich mehr oderweniger verdrängt. Prägend war das erste Filmfest im März 1989… ja 8 Monatevor dem Mauerfall sammelten sich die frühen Akteure für ein erstesFilmfest. Die Initiative holte Stasi und Volkspolizei in den Kinosaal, Berufsverbotefolgten. Das war das Schlechte. Das Gute folgte ein Jahr später. Ein2. Filmfest, finanziert mit einem Darlehen der Stadt Dresden. Gern erinnereich mich an viele Filmemacher, an deren Unterstützungen, an - im gutenSinne - Filmverrückte, wie Wilhelm Hein, an nächtliche Plakataktionen…..Vieles könnte ich erzählen, doch das ist alles Geschichte und ich bin nichtder Anekdotenonkel.Meine aufregende Zeit und die tolle Arbeit des heutigen Festivalteams verbindenmich mit dem FILMFEST DRESDEN. Für die Zukunft sage ich: Weitermachen, gute Film zeigen, viele Filmemacher/innen einladen, kontroverssein, provozieren, diskutieren, Fragen stellen und Spaß haben. Darauf trinkenwir einen Eierlikör.So Many Years of FILMFEST DRESDEN – and I Love It...I remember so much, but only the GOOD things of course; the BAD thingsI’ve pushed out of my mind more or less. The first festival in March 1989 wasvery formative.... with the original players coming together for it just eightmonths before the fall of the Berlin Wall. Our initiative caused the Stasi secretpolice and the Volkspolizei regular police to turn up at the cinema, resultingin bans on working in our professions. That was the bad side. The goodside occurred one year later: A second FILMFEST DRESDEN financed with aloan from the City of Dresden. I have fond memories of all the filmmakersand the support they gave, of the film crazies – in a positive sense – such asWilhelm Hein, and of the night-time poster campaigns...25 Jahre sind eine lange Zeit - aber eben Vergangenheit mit vielen lustigenErinnerungen, z. B. die an eine der richtungsweisenden Eröffnungen in den90ern mit der wunderbaren Verkündung „Indepedenten“-Filme vor leeremOriginalsaal in der Schauburg. Für die Zukunft - bitte nach vorn schauen,Aktuelles aufgreifen, Publikum und Filmemachern eine attraktive Plattformund Orientierung bieten inmitten digitalem Überangebot und Overscreening.Viel Erfolg und viel tolle Filme!25 years are a long time – but for that they represent the past with manyfunny memories, such as for instance the trend-setting opening in the 1990swith the wonderful announcement of "Indepedenten" films – and that infront of an empty original auditorium in the Schauburg festival cinema. Forthe future – please keep your eyes ahead, grab the latest items and providean attractive platform and sense of direction for the audiences and filmmakersin the middle of the digital oversupply and overscreening. Aber die nahmen’s leicht undwollten ihren Berufskollegen folgenden Tipp geben: „Wenn Du nach Dresdenzum Filmfest eingeladen wirst, vergiss‘ nicht die Wanderstiefel!“FILMFEST DRESDEN and Hiking Boots?For the filmmakers who accepted our invitation to the 8th FILMFEST DRES-DEN, one event they will never forget was the excursion to the SaxonianSwitzerland scenic area, consisting of a march from the river Elbe to theBastei and back. Unfortunately we put our guests’ fitness sorely to the teston this trip after the long film and party nights beforehand. But they took itall in their stride and said they’d give the following tip to their colleagues inthe future: "If you ever get invited to the film festival in Dresden, don’t forgetto bring your hiking boots!"Mirella Feige, Festivalleiterin Festival Director 1996There’s so much I could tell, but it’s all history now and I’m not the naturalraconteur.
