Open Access programming for „One
Internet“ – The Second Derivative Test
in Telecommunications
Is today’s telecommunications industry at a major inflection point?
After past “centralisation” and “decentralisation” is “collaboration” the
new inflection point driven by platform computing and cloud services.
Telco is quickly becoming a software business with new playing rules. As
companies such as Microsoft, Facebook, Google and Apple target customers
in telecom’s traditional business, it’s clear that the industry will
need new innovative software products and services to compete and
grow. Built around the conventions of open access to telecom services,
significant platforms using web services to enable and integrate partners.
This talk will focus on the technology dimensions facing developers
in today’s market.
Software will shape the next generation of telecommunication. New
and disruptive technologies are driving global product developments
and service delivery while the past parochial market succumbs to the
Internet’s borderlessness. With collapsed infrastructures for fixed and
mobile, the limitations for product distribution will also disintegrate.
Platforms that enable open development with third parties are very
important for innovation, especially towards “One Internet,” and open
access to network APIs will change the way new software products
operate in the global marketplace.
