in der Orangerie
Ansbach, ein sehr wichtiger
Punkt und macht die Produkte
der GFR-Systemlinien DI-
GICONTROL und DIGIVI-
SION zum idealen Partner im
Bereich der BACnet Automations-
und Managementebenen.
Formerly a summer residence
and greenhouse, the
orangery is used today as a
restaurant and also for concerts,
presentations and lectures,
conferences, festive
banquets and events of the
most diverse kind.
With a total area of about
600 m² and the flexibility
to use the halls separately
or by combining them, it is
possible to host and conduct
events with up to 1,000 persons.
This flexible utilisation
of the building calls for
management that meets the
needs, is optimised for energy
and, at the same time,
is comfortable and sustainable.
The communication
protocol, BACnet, was used
in the area of building automation
and management to
meet this demand.
Compliance with
BACnet functionality
The refurbishment of the
building services was floated
as a single open tender
with the work to be undertaken
in two phases of construction.
While checking
the offers, compliance with
the BACnet functionalities
asked for was a decisive criterion
for evaluation. The
building automation system
should become the centre of
all control and communication
for all building services.
The scope of implementation
includes the ventilation
systems, the heating plant
having two boilers, hot water
preparation as well as
the energy meters and two
refrigeration machines. On
account of the variable utilisation
options of the orang-
ery, all plants and systems
are optimised with respect
to energy depending on the
requirements, and operated
based on the utilisation periods,
CO 2 content, type of
utilisation and room size.
The system was implemented
with the help of the BACnet
Building Controller (B-
BC) DIGICONTROL ems4.
CP03B-BAC supplied by
GFR.
Monitoring with BACnet
Operator Workstation
The “Emergency” operation
of all plants and systems
takes place at the automation
level using 19”
door-mounted modules
from the ems4.xxF family
(local overriding operating
level in accordance with
VDI 3814). The systems
and plants are operated and
monitored conveniently using
the BACnet operator
workstations (B-OWS) of
GFR with the help of three
5.7” touch-screen terminals
(ems4.ec3-BAC) and three
BCS (Building Control System)
operator workstations
having Internet access (webbased
building control system,
WEBVISION).
Anwendungen Solutions
System architecture
for the Orangerie Ansbach.
ments very successfully since
the products used have excellent
characteristics in the
areas of distributed intelligence,
communication, real-time
response, interference
immunity, and they
also provide outstanding
interoperability in the BACnet
domain. As a result of
the highly modular system
design, it is possible to expand
and include add-ons to
the hardware and software
of various modules with respect
to their functionality
as and when desired. With
respect to the investment security,
all this, including optimal
energy management
and the best possible level of
operator convenience with
fast-changing utilisation requirements
in the Orangery
at Ansbach, is an extremely
important aspect, and
makes the products of the
GFR range of systems, DIG-
ICONTROL and DIGIVI-
SION, an ideal partner in
the area of BACnet automation
and management levels.
