BACnet International and the BACnet Interest Group Europe (BIG-EU) have agreed on a
global BACnet conformance verification scheme for BACnet devices. At the AHR Expo
in Las Vegas the boards of the American and European BACnet groups approved a
plan that provides for the quickest possible implementation. The certification, which is
based on the test plans of the BACnet Testing Laboratories (BTL), meets the European
requirements of certification procedures and product standards as well. Moreover, the
integration with the European Construction Products Directive is ensured.

use of the BTL mark and the

The outcome of a round-robin
test in which participating
laboratories demonstrate the
reproducibility of testing results,
is to be expected shortly.
After this, there will be nothing
hindering mutual recognition
of testing results. The
manufacturers are already
preparing for it. Reportedly
all testing capacity has been
exhausted, so that considerations
concerning further
BACnet testing laboratories
are already underway.
