The city of Ahlen has used<br />
the funds to restore local<br />
public buildings in an energy<br />
efficient way.<br />
Retrofitting of schools<br />
The German <strong>BACnet</strong> System<br />
Integrator SWG Stuckmann<br />
Wirtschaftliche Gebäudesysteme<br />
GmbH has been<br />
awarded for some of the<br />
energy efficiency projects<br />
in schools. Because of the<br />
branch office from SWG in<br />
the city of Ahlen, it was natural<br />
that the company submitted<br />
quotes for the local<br />
energy efficiency projects.<br />
SWG constructed some of<br />
the local school projects e.g.<br />
for two secondary schools<br />
and a primary school. The<br />
goal within the project was<br />
the <strong>BACnet</strong> integration of<br />
heat pumps, frequency converters,<br />
air handling units<br />
and a boiler with BBC Controllers<br />
and the connection<br />
through MSTP. In close collaboration<br />
with the planning<br />
engineers of “Ingenieurbüro<br />
Merker”, SWG was enabled<br />
to bring in their experience<br />
and extensive knowledge of<br />
<strong>BACnet</strong> system integration<br />
into the project.<br />
Equipped with <strong>BACnet</strong><br />
Operator Workstation<br />
The visualisation of the<br />
building management system<br />
(BMS) was done for<br />
each school individually<br />
by a B-OWS (<strong>BACnet</strong> Op-<br />
erator Workstation) with<br />
an integrated web-server<br />
from Delta Controls. The<br />
web-Server allowes the user<br />
through a secured VPN<br />
connection to operate and<br />
monitor the building management<br />
system from any<br />
preconfigured PC. In addition<br />
to the web-server, SWG<br />
configured the system to receive<br />
detailed data information<br />
from various <strong>BACnet</strong><br />
MS/TP components to help<br />
the BMS operate energy efficient<br />
and furthermore to reduce<br />
the energy costs of the<br />
buildings.<br />
The in-depth <strong>BACnet</strong> integration<br />
allows the city of<br />
Ahlen to access and process<br />
energy efficiency information<br />
in a fast, flexible<br />
and very easy way and helps<br />
to optimise the buildings.<br />
Furthermore the city has a<br />
<strong>BACnet</strong> BMS system, that<br />
allows them to integrate<br />
additional buildings with<br />
building controls systems<br />
from multiple manufacturers<br />
in the future.<br />
