„PITCH BLACK“ - a play review
On Tuesday, November 15th, five classes of our
school (V . HAK und HLT, IV . HAK und HLT, III . HLT)
got to see another brilliant performance of Vienna‘s
English Theatre, which is currently touring through
Austria . Their plays are always a great experience and
a welcome change to normal English lessons . This
time we saw Pitch Black - a modern day adaptation
of Shakespeare’s world famous tragedy Othello - by
Clive Duncan . The play tells the story of the black
ex-football player Donatello Moor and his young and
beautiful wife Mona Deeds, who happens to be white
and almost half his age . The antagonist, Jago, a football
player of the English team and false friend of Donatello,
tries to get rid of him by lying, manipulating
and bringing up the worst in everyone . He also uses
Michael Cassio, a young football player himself and a
good friend of Donatello, for his evil plan .
The brilliant British actors in action .
The play was performed by four young British actors,
all of whom were able to transport the story and the
characters very well . They spoke very clearly and it
was therefore very easy to understand and follow the
plot . I especially liked the character of Jago . The actor
played a really convincing villain with everything that
is needed for this, from glares that give you shivers to
devilish and false laughs . The stage was really simple
with just a few moveable parts to indicate changes
between scenes and only a handful of props . However,
that didn’t matter – quite the contrary – it drew the full
attention to the acting . During every scene music was
played, which fitted well to the plot and perfectly contributed
to the atmosphere .
The ending was - how could it be different? – very
“Shakespearian”, although with a slight twist and therefore
not fully compatible with the original, which in
my opinion was a mistake because through this change
the “modern Othello” lost some of his nobility .
Nevertheless, I really liked the play and can recommend
it to everyone who likes drama, intrigues and the
English language .
Marketingstrategien im Medienhaus
und Messepark
Am 25 . Mai 2012 bekamen wir die Möglichkeit, Einblick
in zwei der bekanntesten Unternehmen Vorarlbergs
zu bekommen . Am Vormittag tauchten wir in die
Welt wichtiger Vorarlberger Medien ein, anschließend
konnten wir uns ein Bild von Vorarlbergs beliebtestem
Die IV . Handelsakademie im Antenne Vorarlberg Studio
Einkaufszentrum, dem Messepark, machen .
Nach unserer Ankunft in Schwarzach begrüßte uns
eine freie Redakteurin des Hochglanz-Lifestyle-Magazins
„Week“ . Zuerst erklärte sie uns in einer Präsentation
die wichtigsten Fakten und interessante Details .
Wussten Sie zum Beispiel, dass das Medienhaus auch
Zeitungen in Ungarn und Rumänien mit dem gleichen
Layout der VN herausbringt? Oder, dass die VN die
erste Tageszeitung weltweit war, die den Vierfarbdruck
standardisierte? Anschließend wurden wir durch das
Gebäude geführt und durften unter anderem die Produktionsstätten
der Vorarlberger Printmedien und das
Antenne Vorarlberg Studio genauer ansehen .
Am Nachmittag machten wir uns schließlich auf
zum Messepark, wo wir schon von Geschäftsführer
Burkhard Dünser erwartet wurden . Er präsentierte
uns die Messepark Verwaltungs-GmbH, weihte uns
in geplante Ausbauvorhaben ein, erklärte uns, warum
der Messepark so erfolgreich ist, und beantwortete all
unsere Fragen kompetent und geduldig .
Geschäftsführer Burkhard Dünser verrät uns
das Erfolgsrezept des Messeparks .
