Goodbye 2019 and Hello 2020
Liebe Leser*innen,
Prominenten,
nämlich Greta
Thunberg, die
Show.
Doch geht es
beiden gerade
nicht um
Prominenz oder
Show, sondern
um nichts
Geringeres
als die
Zukunft ihrer
Generation.
Allerdings mit
unterschiedlichen Forderungen, wie der Beitrag zu
Natasha Mwansa zeigt.
Zu einem Perspektivwechsel regen auch Filmund
Buchbesprechung in dieser Aufgabe an.
Und es werden Fragen aufgeworfen: Was bewirkt
Entwicklungszusammenarbeit bei den Akteuren
beider Seiten?
Wetter an Weihnachten, darüber keinen Tannenbaum
Goodbye 2019
The last month of the year was different in many ways
than usual. Most of all, it was warm. Everyone at
church was looking forward to Christmas, everyone
was preparing something. The children prepared
a roleplay and the youth practiced songs that they
would sing on Christmas Day. And I was right in the
middle of everything, confused by the warm weather
at Christmas, by not seeing a Christmas tree and also
emotionally because I couldn‘t be with my family. Still,
I somehow found my place in the hustle and bustle and
helped Sister Charleen at work. I helped her decorate
and make the background for the roleplay and the
crib. By participating and helping, I felt like a part of
the community and the festivity. My sisters couldn‘t
wait for Christmas to come: they often explained to
me what Christmas was like for them. And they were
curious about what it is like in Germany. There was
a church program on Christmas Eve that was not
much different than in Germany among Christians.
We waited until it got dark and then went to church.
That was about 6:30 p.m. The church was lit with a
lot of candles which created a somehow romantic
atmosphere that was probably the most beautiful thing
about Christmas for me. These Christmas holidays I
was somewhere else with my thoughts and missed my
family quite a bit. More than I thought. Because of the
weather and the lack of Christmas rituals that I know
and that I am used to from my family in Germany, I
didn‘t really get into Christmas mood. It was a pity, a
strange feeling above all. Nevertheless, it was a great
experience that I had the opportunity to experience
Christmas differently and to realize what I really need
on the festive days, what I can do without and what
just not. It was nice to see how people in another part
of the world understand and define Christmas and
above all how they celebrate it. As is well known, there
are always two sides of the same coin and both have
refilled my thoughts.
Christmas had passed a few days and everyone was
preparing for New Year. The church, my family and
me. If I had struggled a few days before, I was now
looking forward to the new year. The last day of the
year was also a church day, this time it was only a
little bit different from Christmas Day. At New Year´s
