Almost all our metal equipment and components
are made out of stainless steel 1.4301
(to DIN 17007; designation to DIN 17006: X 5
Cr Ni 18 - 10).
This grade is a chrome-nickel steel, which
is also known as Nirosta, Inox, VA, V2A, A2,
18/10.
Stainless steel has proven itself through features
such as longevity and corrosion resistance.
It is primarily used where corrosion
protection, aesthetics, or hygiene are of primary
importance.
Stainless steel combines all these properties
like no other material.
The high corrosion resistance is due to the
formation of a chromium oxide layer with a
thickness in the thousandth of a millimetre
range. This layer is very thin, but after mechanical
damage it is able to form again and
again, so that this stainless steel can rightly
be called “rust-free”.
The prerequisite for this, of course, is that
extraneous rust does not permanently damage
the surface.
Should traces of rust nevertheless appear
on the equipment or parts made of stainless
steel, this is usually so-called rust film,
i.e., rust that reaches the stainless steel parts
during production or as a result of environmental
influences. Rust as well as grease
and oil containing dirt can be removed with
household cleaners suitable for stainless
steel.
