The surfaces of the stainless steel
elements used by Kaiser & Kühne are
glass bead blasted. The only exceptions
are elements that cannot be treated due
to their size, such as tunnel slides.
Blasting with glass beads in comparison
with pickling is an environmentally very
friendly form of surface finishing. In
contrast to the more well-known sand
blasting, glass beads are used here. This
surface treatment is mainly used for
the decorative design of aluminium and
stainless steel.
Glass beads in the micro range
(according to DIN 8201) leave metal
surfaces absolutely clean because of
glass being a neutrally working medium,
i.e. it does not form any chemical
compound with the irradiated metal.
The abrasives used are absolutely free
of harmful substances and therefore
do not harm either health or the
environment.
The blasting process is so
gentle that the dimension
and contours of the
blasted workpiece remain
unchanged and accurate.
In addition, this gentle
surface refinement gives
the stainless steel parts in
particular an attractive and matt
shimmering appearance.
