AN IMMERSION OF THE SENSES IN PROVENCE
The vineyards of Provence extend over 200 kilometres,
through the departments of Var, Bouches-du-Rhône
and part of Alpes-Maritimes. Basking in virtually uninterrupted
sunshine, the scenery is breathtaking and setting
foot in the vineyards alone is enough to create a true
holiday feel. The region’s remarkable sites include Mount
Saint-Victoire and the Sainte-Baume and Maures mountain
ranges, along with the volcanic slopes of the Estérel.
Then there’s the hot, dry and sunny Mediterranean climate,
lavishing some 2,800 hours of sunshine on the vineyards
every year as they are lulled by the gentle breezes which are
another feature of the region’s climate.
Here, wine tourism becomes a way of life such is the
intensity with which it elicits the senses, combining a
feast not only for your eyes, but also for your palate and
your nose, ultimately creating a sense of overwhelming
fulfilment. That’s because Provence is home to some of
the most beautiful vineyard landscapes in the world, offering
endless possibilities for discovery – tastings, vineyard
walks, winery visits, dining experiences, accommodation
amongst the vineyards, art exhibitions, spas, yoga, cinema
and concerts.
So, take some time out to discover it from the inside. Soak
up all these incredible perfumes that accompany you on
your journey. Learn to live with your senses ‘wide open’ so
that you can fully benefit from this bountiful land which
will inundate you with flavours, colours and light. The
wines will taste even better because they are at one with
their environment, in total harmony. This is the kind of
real life sensory experience that we rarely get the chance
to indulge in!
