BestandTeile – Das Jahrbuch der KIT-Fakultät für Architektur 2022

In the 2021 academic year, we were able to offer
and organise a seminar week for all students for the first
time in June. Despite the restrictions due to the pandemic, it
was a success to see that such faculty-wide courses manage
to bring students from different semesters and programmes
together in thematically defined groups and to enable
exchange here.
We would like to welcome new tenure-track professor
Moritz Dörstelmann, who has held the newly created
professorship of Digital Design and Fabrication since
summer 2021, and Prof. Dr. Riccardo La Magna, who was
appointed to the professorship of Structural Engineering
and Constructive Design in October 2021. In addition,
we were fortunate to gain two substitute professorships in
Architectural Theory with Prof. Oliver Elser and Prof.
Dr. Nathalie Bredella.
Prof. Matthias Pfeifer and Dipl.-Ing. Udo Beyer
have left the faculty. Matthias Pfeifer had been Professor of
Structural Engineering since 1999. Udo Beyer represented
the field of descriptive geometry for many years. We would
like to thank both of them warmly and wish them all the
best for the goals and challenges they have set for themselves.
This yearbook reflects the high level of commitment
of all those involved at the Faculty of Architecture. The
results of our work and the discourse section of the book
establish a space for reflection, for externalisation, but also
for exchange and comparison. At our faculty, we celebrate
a diversity of architectural and artistic thought and action
while at the same time respecting all those who think differently.
We are united in the demand for the highest possible
quality, however different our approaches and ways of
achieving this may be, as expressed in this publication. This
is a quality that will also endure in any further crisis and
on which we should and will build.
Our thanks go in particular to the creators of this
publication, without whose heart and soul and motivation
our faculty could not exist at such a visible and high scientific,
but also interpersonal level.
