MARGARITA LANDAZURI: Did she attend the Festival in subsequent years?<br />

CLAUDE JARMAN: No, I don’t think so. But she never was around that much. She went to<br />

Washington. She was an ambassador in Czechoslovakia and in Africa. Her life moved on to different<br />

things.<br />

MARGARITA LANDAZURI: Do you think she would be willing to talk about the Festival for the<br />

archival interviews?<br />

CLAUDE JARMAN: Maybe.<br />

MARGARITA LANDAZURI: I know that she doesn’t do press interviews, that kind of thing—or very<br />

rarely—but this is something for the archives. I’m hoping that maybe she would be able to.<br />

CLAUDE JARMAN: She’s very elusive.<br />

MARGARITA LANDAZURI: Yes, yes she is. Oh, Roman Polanski, what about his tribute?<br />

CLAUDE JARMAN: I don’t remember that much about it.<br />

MARGARITA LANDAZURI: OK.<br />

CLAUDE JARMAN: At that point, he hadn’t achieved all the notoriety that he went on to achieve.<br />

MARGARITA LANDAZURI: George Cukor must have been memorable. He’s a great storyteller.<br />

CLAUDE JARMAN: Yes.<br />

MARGARITA LANDAZURI: Oh, this was a Herb Caen story about [Shirley Temple] calling him on<br />

the telephone—I don’t know—maybe to ask him to take part, and he wouldn’t believe it was her.<br />
