The Bentley Historical Library holds <strong>the</strong> personal papers of William Haber, a<br />

University of Michigan economist who served with <strong>the</strong> National Refugee Service;<br />

<strong>the</strong> American <strong>Jewish</strong> Committee; as Advisor on <strong>Jewish</strong> Affairs to <strong>the</strong><br />

Commander-<strong>in</strong>-chief U.S. Forces <strong>in</strong> Germany and Austria (1948-1949); from<br />

1950 as President of <strong>the</strong> American ORT Federation; and as President of <strong>the</strong> World<br />

ORT Union’s Central Board from 1955 to 1975. The personal papers of<br />

<strong>in</strong>ternationally known physical chemist Kasimir Fajans, who emigrated from<br />

Germany to <strong>the</strong> US, <strong>in</strong>clude material perta<strong>in</strong><strong>in</strong>g to his concern for <strong>Jewish</strong> scholars<br />

<strong>in</strong> Germany before and dur<strong>in</strong>g World War II and correspondence with many<br />

prom<strong>in</strong>ent figures of <strong>the</strong> day. The personal papers of Alfred G. Meyer, a<br />

University of Michigan professor of Political Science, <strong>in</strong>clude autobiographical<br />

material detail<strong>in</strong>g his family’s flight from Nazi Germany. The Special<br />

<strong>Collections</strong> Library holds <strong>the</strong> Joseph T. and Marie F. Adler collection of<br />

<strong>Holocaust</strong> and Judaica materials, organized <strong>in</strong>to six series (<strong>Holocaust</strong>, Judaica,<br />

Anti-Semitism, Geographic Areas, History and Culture, Personalities) and made<br />

up of a wide variety of formats. F<strong>in</strong>ally, <strong>the</strong> Harlan Hatcher Graduate Library<br />

also houses a number of yizkor books.<br />

The Voice/Vision <strong>Holocaust</strong> Survivor Oral History Archive strives to create<br />

personal l<strong>in</strong>ks between listeners and survivors of <strong>the</strong> <strong>Holocaust</strong> for <strong>the</strong> purpose of<br />

provid<strong>in</strong>g an empa<strong>the</strong>tic appreciation of <strong>the</strong> victims' experiences, <strong>the</strong>reby ga<strong>in</strong><strong>in</strong>g<br />

greater <strong>in</strong>sight <strong>in</strong>to <strong>the</strong> historical event of <strong>the</strong> <strong>Holocaust</strong>. Through engagement of<br />

<strong>the</strong> listeners, <strong>the</strong> Archive seeks to reduce anti-Semitism and racism as it<br />

encourages tolerance.<br />

The Voice/Vision <strong>Holocaust</strong> Survivor Oral History Archive holds over 150<br />

<strong>in</strong>terviews with <strong>Holocaust</strong> survivors, recorded on about 330 hours of audiotapes<br />

and 60 hours of videotapes.<br />
