The National <strong>Jewish</strong> Archive of Broadcast<strong>in</strong>g (NJAB) is <strong>the</strong> largest and most<br />

comprehensive body of broadcast materials on 20th century <strong>Jewish</strong> culture <strong>in</strong> <strong>the</strong><br />

United States. With a mission to collect, preserve, and exhibit television and<br />

radio programs related to <strong>the</strong> <strong>Jewish</strong> experience, <strong>the</strong> NJAB is one of a few<br />

culturally specific media centers with a major subject-oriented collection,<br />

operat<strong>in</strong>g with<strong>in</strong> a museum context.<br />

The National <strong>Jewish</strong> Archive of Broadcast<strong>in</strong>g holds copies of television programs<br />

from <strong>the</strong> <strong>in</strong>ception of television <strong>in</strong> 1948 to <strong>the</strong> present, all of which concern<br />

<strong>Jewish</strong> culture and history. <strong>Holocaust</strong>-related hold<strong>in</strong>gs <strong>in</strong>clude <strong>the</strong> complete<br />

videotape record of <strong>the</strong> Adolf Eichmann trial and <strong>in</strong>terviews with such prom<strong>in</strong>ent<br />

figures as I.B. S<strong>in</strong>ger or Elie Wiesel.<br />

The library holds <strong>the</strong> personal papers of <strong>the</strong> orthodox rabbi Israel Rosenberg,<br />

founder of <strong>the</strong> American <strong>Jewish</strong> Jo<strong>in</strong>t Distribution Committee, as well as French<br />

<strong>Jewish</strong> community records, which <strong>in</strong>clude such relevant topics as life under <strong>the</strong><br />

Vichy government and Nazi occupation.
