Am 20. und 21. Januar 2010 weilte ein <strong>Air</strong>bus A380 erstmals am Flughafen<br />
Zürich. Hauptgrund für den Besuch waren aber nicht die unzähligen Fans, sondern<br />
Tests. Für einen regelmässigen Linienflugbetrieb braucht der Flughafen Zürich<br />
nämlich eine Zertifizierung. On 20th and 21st January 2010 an <strong>Air</strong>bus A380<br />
graced Zurich <strong>Air</strong>port for the very first time. Yet the crowds of fans were not<br />
the main reason for the giant’s visit. Tests were the order of the stay for the airport<br />
requires certification before regular scheduled flight operations may commence.<br />
Der Publikumsanlass „Welcome A380“ war ein voller Erfolg. Nach<br />
der Landung um 08.21 Uhr haben sich über 22 000 Flugzeugbegeisterte<br />
den Riesenvogel aus nächster Nähe angeschaut. Für den<br />
Anlass wurde am Flughafen Zürich eigens ein Areal ausgezäunt.<br />
Tausende verfolgten die Landung an verschiedenen Plätzen rund<br />
um den Flughafen. Rund 140 Medienschaffende aus dem In- und<br />
Ausland waren vor Ort. Selbst Flugpionier Bertrand Piccard, der<br />
zufällig für eine Sitzung mit dem Flughafendirektor Thomas Kern<br />
am Flughafen Zürich weilte, liess sich von der Faszination Fliegen<br />
anstecken und schaute sich den Riesenvogel aus der Nähe an.<br />

The public occasion dubbed “Welcome A380”<br />
was a tremendous success. After landing at<br />
8.21 a.m. the giant was soon under the close<br />
inspection of over 22 000 aviation enthusiasts. A<br />
dedicated area was specially fenced off at Zurich<br />
<strong>Air</strong>port for the event, while thousands of<br />
onlookers followed the landing from various<br />
lookout points around the airport. Around 140<br />
domestic and international media representatives<br />
