The Hazel Green Dramatis Personae received a Technical Assistance Grant from the Alabama State<br />
Council on the Arts <strong>to</strong> help pay for a guest designer for their Shakespeare production. Senior member<br />
Madison Keller was featured on a WAAY 31 “We Are the Future” segment. Mr. Clint Merritt was<br />
awarded a Theatre Direc<strong>to</strong>r’s scholarship <strong>to</strong>wards the International Thespian Festival which will take<br />
place in Lincoln, NE in June.<br />

Legacy Elementary Teacher of the Year Named Madison<br />
County Teacher of the Year<br />
<strong>Congratulations</strong> <strong>to</strong> Caroline Wilson for winning this prestigious<br />
recognition among her peers across the county. Mrs. Wilson also<br />
received the Crystal Apple Award from WAY FM 88.1. She was<br />
nominated by one of her students, Sarah Taylor, for this month’s<br />
WAY FM award. Her warmth and care for her 4 th grade students<br />
is as obvious as her dynamic teaching in the classroom. Mrs.<br />
Wilson also sponsors Monkey Mail at Legacy. Monkey Mail<br />
promotes letter writing across grade levels. Club members learn<br />
how our postal system works as they serve in various jobs <strong>to</strong> keep<br />
the mail delivery running smoothly.<br />

<strong>Congratulations</strong> <strong>to</strong> Jutta Terry, the direc<strong>to</strong>r of Legacy’s Cub Café.<br />
Under her direction, students gain thoughtful insight in<strong>to</strong> healthy<br />
eating. Students look forward <strong>to</strong> Mrs. Terry’s visits on LION News as she introduces them <strong>to</strong> new fruits<br />
and vegetables. Mrs. Terry always has a smile for students and a helping hand for teachers.
