HGES ACE Dauphin Island Field Trip<br />

Hazel Green Elementary’s Fifth Grade ACE class <strong>to</strong>ok a<br />

trip <strong>to</strong> Dauphin Island Sea Lab February 15 - 18. Students<br />

participated in many activities and learned about<br />

ecosystems and sea life.<br />

HGES Art Students Participate in Museum Art Show<br />

First grader Ella Jensen (Mrs. Franklin’s class) and Fifth<br />

grader Rebecca Cole (Mrs. O’Dell’s class) will represent<br />

Hazel Green Elementary at Huntsville Museum of Art’s<br />

Student Art Show. Their artwork will be on display<br />

March 10 through April 14.<br />

HGES Gavel Club Receives Charter<br />

On January 31 st , members of the Tennessee Valley Toastmasters presented Dr. Sheila Jones with an<br />

official charter for the first Toastmasters Gavel Club at Hazel Green Elementary.<br />

Professional of the Year are Angela Misterka<br />

(Fourth Grade) and Amy Adkins (P.E. Aide).<br />

HGES Destination Imagination Team Places<br />

First in Regional Tournament<br />

Mrs. Carter’s Destination Imagination Team<br />

placed first in Challenge C at the North<br />

Alabama DI Regional Tournament on March<br />

2 nd . Mrs. Carter’s team members are: Maggie<br />

Brown, Caleb Gatlin, Kaitlyn Williamson, Amber Bailey, Bridget Powell and Jackson Parks.<br />

Family Reading Night at HGES<br />

On February 26 th , HGES students, parents and community leaders gathered under the Big Top <strong>to</strong> celebrate<br />

Dr. Seuss’s birthday with a circus themed Family Reading Night. Families enjoyed dinner, guest speakers<br />

and a Book Fair.
