<strong>Congratulations</strong> <strong>to</strong> Dee Gordon, Guidance Counselor at Buckhorn High School, for<br />

winning a $2,500 grant from State Farm Insurance. This year, State Farm® introduced<br />

Celebrate My Drive® as an opportunity for communities <strong>to</strong> rally around teens as they<br />

learn <strong>to</strong> drive. The money will be used <strong>to</strong> promote teen driver safety.<br />

<strong>Congratulations</strong> <strong>to</strong> Mikaela Brock, Erin Harris, Hannah Harris, and Kayla Moyers! All<br />

four band members auditioned for and qualified for the District 1 Honor Band. Kayla<br />

Moyers and Melody Knight also qualified for All-State band for the second year in a<br />

row.<br />

<strong>Congratulations</strong> <strong>to</strong> the Buckhorn Choir for a great performance at State Assessment on Friday, March 1 st .<br />

The choir earned straight superior scores, including a perfect score in sight-reading and one perfect score<br />

in performance. Way <strong>to</strong> go Buckhorn Choir!<br />

<strong>Congratulations</strong> <strong>to</strong> Hannah Hallmark (pictured at right), student at Buckhorn<br />

High School, for receiving the 2013 Rotary Youth Leadership Award (RYLA).<br />

Hannah attended the leadership training program sponsored by the Rotary<br />

Clubs of Huntsville and received an award for her accomplishment.<br />

<strong>Congratulations</strong> <strong>to</strong> Cameron England who ended his wrestling season with 38<br />

wins and placed 6th at the 6A State Wrestling Tournament on February 16 th at<br />

the VBC.<br />

<strong>Congratulations</strong> <strong>to</strong> Austin Vu and Adonis Chambers for their great<br />

achievements at the Special Olympics Swim Meet on Friday, February 15 th .<br />

Austin placed 1 st in the 100m freestyle and 1 st in the 100m backstroke. Adonis<br />

placed 1 st in the 15m walk, 1 st in the 25m freestyle and 1 st in the 4 x 25 relay!<br />

Great job guys!<br />

<strong>Congratulations</strong> <strong>to</strong> BHS senior, Tiffany-Amber Stage for being selected <strong>to</strong> spend the day at Chase Animal<br />

Hospital and shadow Dr. Able’s day-<strong>to</strong>-day activities, including a surgery. Her experience was made<br />

possible by “We are the Future” - a partnership between WAAY-31, Huntsville City Schools, Madison<br />

City Schools and Madison County Schools.<br />

<strong>Congratulations</strong> <strong>to</strong> Meghan Durboraw for winning the Carring<strong>to</strong>n Dental Care Centre Essay Scholarship.<br />
