Lynn Fanning celebrated the 100 th day of school in fine<br />

fashion as the students dressed as 100 year-olds. Keeping<br />

with the 100 theme, teachers taught special lessons on the<br />

number 100. Class projects decorated the halls with posters<br />

based on the number 100, special 100 piece snacks were<br />

consumed, and writing activities with the 100 theme filled the<br />

day.<br />

The February 21 st PTA meeting provided an opportunity for<br />

parents and students <strong>to</strong> determine “Are You Smarter Than a<br />

5 th Grader”. Unfortunately for parents, the answer was a<br />

resolute “No” as the 5 th grade students swept three out of four<br />

rounds. Hosted by 5 th grade math teacher, Josh Lindsey, kids and parents answered questions about<br />

academic subjects and pop culture. A great time was had by all in attendance.<br />

Mrs. Salge’s art students Grace Worthing<strong>to</strong>n, 5 th grade and Carlos Valverde, 2 nd grade were selected <strong>to</strong><br />

have their artwork displayed in the Youth Art Month exhibition at the Huntsville Museum of Art until<br />

April 21 st . A reception will be held on March 10 th for the students and their families <strong>to</strong> celebrate their<br />

creativity and talent.<br />

Lynn Fanning’s National Honor Society’s Heifer International service learning project raised $887 for<br />

Heifer International and bought a llama, goat, chickens, ducks, honeybees, and gardener baskets for<br />

impoverished people living in underdeveloped countries.<br />

CNC LATHE PROGRAMMING CONTEST<br />

Kane Reimers, from Precision Machining, placed 3 rd in<br />

the CNC Lathe Programming contest at the 3 rd Annual<br />

Calhoun Skills Competition.<br />

SKILLS USA COMPETITION FOR AUTO MECHANICS<br />

On February 13 th , Wallace State hosted the District<br />

Skills USA competition. Eliyah Bellamy and Bradley<br />

Ledbetter competed in the District Skills competition<br />

and Adrian Cothern observed.
